| News/Obit | 26 January 2014 | Robert Rogers PEORIA - Robert Lowell Rogers , 95, of Peoria passed away at 6:37 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at Heddington Oaks. Robert was born on Sept. 22, 1918, in Peoria to Wiliam J. and Daisey (Mullen) Rogers . He married Eleanor Ely on July 14, 1951, in Princeville. She preceded him in death on May 7, 2007, in Peoria. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Howard Rogers . He is survived by his children, Larry Rogers of Utica, Mich., Linda (Tom) Higdon of Creve Coeur and John Rogers and Michael (Sue) Rogers , both of Peoria; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Robert was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II and the Korean War. He worked in sales for Keifer Electric for 43 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of St. Philomena Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at St. Philomena Catholic Church. Father David Richardson will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is handling the arrangements. He is the son of Mr. William J. & Mrs. Daisey Rogers of 1808 Wisconsin, Peoria, Illinois, and the husband of Mrs. Eleanor Rogers, and they were married in Princeville, Illinois on 7-14-1951, and she preceded him in death on May 7, 2007. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Linda Higdon of Creve Coeur, Illinois, and three sons, Mr. Larry Rogers of Utica, Michigan, Mr. John Rogers, & Mr. Michael Rogers, both of Peoria, Illinois, five Grandchildren, and three Great-Grandchildren. Mr. Rogers was a 1937 graduate of Peoria High School, and served God & Country in Two Wars, World War II & Korea, and worked for Keifer Electric for 43 years, and retired in 1984. Awards: American Campaign Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, European Campaign Medal with Two Battle Stars, WWII Victory Medal, Ruptured Duck Pin, Korean Service Medal with Two Service Star, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, 2nd award.5 |
