Wm.Washington and Sarah Lucinda Franklin married, then moved from Lincoln County to Hardin Co., TN shortly after. The 1870 census, dated June 9, 1870, shows them in Hardin Co. as follows:

In 1884, they moved to Blueknob, Scott Co., Arkansas. In 1886, they moved to Magazine, Logan County, Arkansas. This is where they lived the rest of their lives.

Sarah married William W. HAITHCOCK on 4 Jan 1855 in Lincoln Co., TN. William was born about 1834 in TN. He died about 1886 in Magazine, Logan, AR. He was buried in Moores' Chapel, Revilee, Logan Co., AR.
He is referred to as the "second son". Wiley J. Hathcock is said to have been their first son and is said to have died young. The marriage records of Lincoln County contain a Wiley J. Hathcock who married an Emily Parish on February 3, 1847.
Enlisted as a private with the Confederate forces at Indian Creek in Hardin Co., TN (near Savannah) on November 1, 1863. He was in Company A of Wilsons' Regiment of the Tennessee Cavalry. That unit was later reorganized, becoming on February 4, 1864, the 16th Regiment (consolidated with the Franklins' and Kizers' Rgts. of the Tennessee Regiment), later becoming the 21st Regiment of Tennessee Cavalry. During the civil war, he ("Grandpa") would go home for part of the year to make shoes for his family and others.
He is buried in the Moores' Chapel Cemetery, Revilee Township, Logan County, Arkansas. There is no stone marking his or her graves.

One of the records I have shows that John died in early 1860.
John married Lucy Ann HAITHCOCK on 1 Sep 1858 in Lincoln Co., TN. Lucy was born on 28 Feb 1836. She died on 21 Mar 1918.
The name is spelled different in the two accounts that I have.
One is Heathcoat and one is Haithcock. Lucy Ann Heathcoat also married John W. Gatlin.

18. James Absent FRANKLIN (William , John W ) was born on 3 Jan 1836 in Lincoln Co., TN. He died on 1 Dec 1899 in Lincoln Co., TN. He was buried on 1 Dec 1899 in Franklin Cemetery, Cash Point, Lincoln Co., TN.
Another record I have has James being born in 1833.
James married (1) Levina Jane HEATHCOAT daughter of John HEATHCOAT and Martha UNKNOWN on 1 Feb 1855 in Lincoln Co., TN. The marriage ended in divorce.Levina was born on 8 May 1834 in Lincoln Co., TN. She died on 11 Feb 1902 in Lincoln Co., TN. She was buried on 11 Feb 1902 in Franklin Cemetery, Cash Point, Lincoln Co., TN.
The marriage records indicate her name as Lovina Heathcock. This is taken from the NEW WORLD BOOK OF FRANKLINS.
Her sister, Eliza Ann Hathcock was living with her and her husband and two children when the 1860 census was taken.

In July 1881 William Alpha was magistrate for the 17th district in Southern TN. In July 1886 and January 1888 he was the justice in the 17th district.

Clara Bottoms was the daughter of Thomas Bee Bottoms GGGrandfather on the Fowler / Bottom side of the family.

34. Martha Ann FRANKLIN (James Thomas , John W ) was born on 24 Oct 1846. She died on 7 Jan 1924 in Lincoln Co., TN. She was buried in Stateline Cemetery.
Martha has two birth dates due to my records but they are so close. One is October the 24th and the other is the 22nd. I Will do some more investigating on this matter to find out.
Martha and William Had 5 children. I only have information on one of them.
Martha married William J. HOPKINS on 26 Dec 1860. William was born on 16 Jan 1841. He died on 18 Nov 1919 in Lincoln Co., TN.

36. John R. FRANKLIN (James Thomas , John W ) was born on 18 Sep 1849 in TN. He died on 20 Aug 1883 in New Grove. He was buried on 20 Aug 1883 in Blanche Cemetery, Blanche, Lincoln Co., TN.
John died when he was overcome with the "damp vapors" while he and his brother were diggingg a well on the farm of William McAnn. His brother survived the incendent. William McAnn and his wife took in John's son Ernie and raised him as their own.
John married Mary Melissa HICKLIN on 3 Mar 1881. Mary was born on 13 Oct 1862. She died in 1951. She was buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, Fayetteville, AL.
Mary is buried Next W B Jobe.

Thomas W is how it shows in the NEW WORLD BOOK OF FRANKLINS.
William married Millie Ann HICKLIN on 18 Jul 1877. Millie was born on 10 Nov 1857. She died on 3 Feb 1932. She was buried in Maple Hill Cemetery, Huntsville, AL.
The last name is spelled different in some of the information I have. It is spelled HICKLEN.
Millie was the sister of Mollie who married William's brother John R.

38. Mary Frances FRANKLIN (James Thomas , John W ) was born on 9 Mar 1856. She died on 25 Jun 1903.
Mary died when heer daughter Minnie was a teenager. It was Minnie who tended to her mother Minnie told in later years that her mother's cancer started from a small spot on her breast. She was treated for cancer for 6 years.
In those days there was little treatment for disease, those with cancer suffered terribly. It was Minnie who dressed her mother's cancerous sores. At times the sores would bleed profusely, with no known way of controlling the bleeding. The only pain relief was lodnum, a pain killer made by mixing morphine with alcohol. The doctors would sprinkle morphine on Mary's open sores with the hope of relieving the pain caused by the cancer. Minnie told of her mothers great suffering with this awful disease.
Mary married Robert Lindsey SMITH JR son of Robert Lindsey SMITH SR and Elizabeth PENNY on 24 Jan 1883. Robert was born on 13 Oct 1840 in Alabama. He died on 17 Jun 1887 in Lincoln Co., TN. He was buried in Prosperity Cemetery, Yukon, Lincoln Co., TN.
Robert died when his daughter Minnie Ola was 3 yrs. old. Minnie had a few memories of her father. But Minnie's daughter Alma gives the following account of Robert's death.
The family had been working in the fields all day, when Robert took a severe headache. Over in the evening Robert and his family returned to the house to rest. Robert went to bed that night still ssuffering from a sever headache. Robert died in his sleep.

Virginia married Lafayette Standfield BARNETT "Dink" son of Tom BARNETT and Mary WHITFIELD on 15 Dec 1876. Lafayette was born on 26 Apr 1848. He died on 26 Jun 1935.

While James was serving with his father in the First Frontier District during the Civil War, he was wounded by an Indian arrow which eventually caused his death.

This account was written in the Knox County History in 1965.
In 1881, Steve Franklin and his wife came from Albany, Texas and settled about halfway between Goree and the Brazos River. He was connected with a Mr. Bill Guilick in the ranching business. He also worked on the big Waggoner Ranch, wich lay nearby. In 1883 they had a little girl, Ida, born to them. She grew up and attended a little local school, Cottonwood Hole School. This school is now extinct but is numbered with the first schools of the county. Ida married J. S. Wilson, who owned a farm three miles west of Knox City. They reared a family there. Mr. Wilson passed away in 1934; Mrs. Wilson still lives on the farm. She celebrated her eighty-first birthday last year. She has three children still living in the Knox City area, Mrs. Bill Langford, Clyde and Alice Wilson.
Stephen married Margaret L COLTHORP on 10 Apr 1878 in Graham, Young Co., TX. Margaret was born on 3 Jul 1858. She died on 16 Nov 1928 in Benjamin, TX.
