Here is a brief beginning to our family history.  

My family's line of descent is marked with a **.

 

**George "Casper" RAUSCH was born about 1721 in Germany.  He was married to Anna Maria (unknown last name).  Casper came to America from Germany, arriving in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on the British ship "Robert and Alice" from Rotterdam, Holland.  He took the English oath of allegiance on September 24, 1742.  He served in the Revolutionary War in Captain Michael Weaver's Company.  Casper died about 27 April 1811 in Freeburg, Snyder County, Pennsylvania, USA.  He and his wife were buried in Zion (Morr's) Lutheran Cemetery, Freeburg, Snyder County, Pennsylvania, USA.  Casper and Anna Maria had the following children:

  1. Juliana RAUSCH was born about 1740.  She was married to Godfrey EICHELBRENNER (son of Daniel EICHELBRENNER) in the autumn of 1760 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA.
  2. John Martin RAUSCH was born on 24 September 1743 in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, USA.  Nothing more known.
  3. Elizabeth RAUSCH was born on 29 January 1745 in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, USA.  She was married to Jacob SCHERTZ in 1763 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA.
  4. Anna Magdalene RAUSCH was born on 4 January 1747 in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, USA.  Nothing more known.
  5. Sophia RAUSCH was born on 21 May 1748 in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, USA.  Nothing more known.

6.                              **John "Jacob" ROUSH (see below).

  1. John "George" RAUSCH was born on 2 August 1753 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA.  He was married first to Christina MORR (daughter of Andrew MORR) in 1776 in Freeburg, Snyder County, Pennsylvania, USA.  Christina MORR was born on 4 August 1757.  George served in 1780 in the Revolutionary War in Capt Motz and Capt Weaver's Co of Northumberland Co Militia and Lieut Jacob Spee's Rangers.  Christina died on 7 June 1793.  She was buried in Zion (Morr's) Lutheran Cemetery, Freeburg, Snyder County, Pennsylvania, USA.  George and Christina had the following children - Margaret RAUSCH, George RAUSCH, Andrew RAUSCH Sr, John "Philip" RAUSCH, John Martin RAUSCH, and Catherine RAUSCH.  George was married second to Barbara POTTER about 1773.  George died in 1822 and was buried in Zion (Morr's) Lutheran Cemetery, Freeburg, Snyder County, Pennsylvania.  George and Barbara had the following children - Jacob ROUSH, David ROUSH, Simon ROUSH, Julia Ann ROUSH, Elizabeth ROUSH, Rebecca ROUSH, and Michael ROUSH.
  2. Johannes  (Little John) RAUSCH was born on 27 July 1757 in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, USA.  Nothing more is known about him.
  3. Anna "Barbara" RAUSCH was born on 17 December 1759 in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, USA.  She was married to Andrew DILLMAN Jr on 1 August 1777 in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, USA.  Andrew DILLMAN Jr was born on 21 October 1751 in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, USA.  He died in 1823.  Barbara died on 17 November 1842.  Barbara and Andrew had the following children - Eva DILLMAN, George DILLMAN, John DILLMAN, Susan DILLMAN, Barbara DILLMAN, Frederick DILLMAN, Andrew DILLMAN III, Julia DILLMAN, Catherine DILLMAN, Elizabeth DILLMAN, Samuel DILLMAN.

**John "Jacob" ROUSH was born on 22 July 1751 in Lebanon, Dauphin-Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA.  He was married to Barbara Mary Elizabeth WITTENMYER (daughter of Andreas WITTENMYER Sr and Suzanne SHROVE) about 1774 in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, USA.  Barbara Mary Elizabeth WITTENMYER was born about 1752 in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, USA.  Jacob served in the Revolutionary War in the 3rd Pennsylvania Regiment, Continental Line, January 1, 1777 to 1781, the companies of Captain Michael Motz and Captain Charles Meyer of the Northumberland County Militia.  Jacob was a member of the building committee of the old Zion Lutheran Church, erected north of Freeburg in 1780.  He was assessed in Penn Township for the first time in 1778, and in 1787 was taxed with 300 acres of land and personal property.  He was granted a warrant in 1796 for an additional 60 acres.  He contributed to the fund for the erection of the First Lutheran Church of Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania in 1801.  In 1806 he was one of the road supervisors of Penn Township.  Jacob died on 3 December 1819 in Freeburg, Snyder County, Pennsylvania, USA.  Both Jacob and Barbara were buried in St Peters Cemetery, Freeburg, Snyder County, Pennsylvania, USA.  Jacob and Barbara had the following children:

  1. John ROUSH was born about 1774.  He died about 1866 and was buried in Liverpool, Perry County, Pennsylvania, USA.  John ROUSH had the following children - Michael ROUSH, Henry ROUSH, Daniel Sylvester ROUSH, Sally ROUSH, Catherine ROUSH, and Elizabeth ROUSH.
  2. **George ROUSH (see below).
  3. Jacob ROUSH was born on 10 November 1779.  He died on 5 November 1885.  He was buried in Lutheran Reformed Cemetery, Kratzerville, Snyder County, Pennsylvania, USA.
  4. Eva Barbara ROUSH was born in 1783.  Nothing more known except date of birth.
  5. Catherine Elizabeth ROUSH was born in 1784. She was married to Tobias BICKEL in 1802. She was buried in Centre County, Pennsylvania, USA.  Had six sons.
  6. Mary Elizabeth ROUSH was born in 1786.  Nothing more known except date of birth.
  7. Frederick ROUSH was born on 13 April 1788 in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, USA.  He was married to Dorothy Nagle.  (daughter of John NAGLE).   Dorothy NAGLE (was born on 30 November 1798.  Frederick died in 1848.  He was buried in Reformed Cemetery, Madisonburg, Centre County, Pennsylvania, USA.  Dorothy died on 18 April 1889.  Frederick and Dorothy had the following children - Catherine ROUSH, Mary ROUSH, Susannah ROUSH, Elizabeth ROUSH, Louisa ROUSH, Benjamin ROUSH, Daniel ROUSH, and Henry ROUSH.
  8. Michael ROUSH was born on 17 August 1794 in Pennsylvania, USA.  He was married to Eve BREON.  Eve BREON (daughter of John George BREON and Elizabeth HEINLEY) was born on 7 November 1801.  They traveled by covered wagon to Stephenson County, Illinois in 1849.  He died on 20 December 1855.  She died on 15 June 1880 in Lena, Stephenson County, Illinois.  Both were buried in Lena, Stephenson County, Illinois, USA.    Michael and Eve had the following children - Amelia ROUSH, Cornelius ROUSH, Joseph ROUSH, Lovina ROUSH, Rosetta ROUSH, Mary Elizabeth ROUSH, George S ROUSH, and Samuel Benjamin ROUSH.
  9. Andrew ROUSH was born on 8 August 1798.  He was married to Susan ADAMS.  Susan ADAMS was born on 28 March 1804.  He died on 8 September 1876.  She died on 14 October 1896.  She was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Snyder County, Pennsylvania, USA.  Andrew and Susan had the following children - Jane ROUSH, Susan ROUSH., Mary Ann ROUSH, William ROUSH, Malinda ROUSH, Henry C ROUSH, Daniel ROUSH, and Maria ROUSH.
  10. David J ROUSH was born on 11 January 1804 in Freeburg, Snyder County, Pennsylvania, USA.  He was married to Anna SWARTZ.  Anna SWARTZ was born on 11 April 1802.  He died about 1885.  She died on 1 November 1864.  David and Anna had the following children - Henry ROUSH, Amelia ROUSH, Sarah ROUSH, Simon (Symon) ROUSH, Susanna ROUSH, John ROUSH, Jacob ROUSH, and Catherine ROUSH.
  11. Dena ROUSH.
  12. Philip ROUSH.
  13. Simon ROUSH.

**George ROUSH was born on 4 April 1776 in Union (Snyder) County, Pennsylvania, USA.  He was married to Mary MICK/MOCK/MOOGH about 1798 in Mifflinburg, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, USA.  Mary was born on 18 December 1779 in Beavertown, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, USA.  George was a farmer. He loved hunting.  He died in February 1835 in Union County, Pennsylvania, USA. Mary died on 17 July 1848 in McAllisterville, Juniata County, Pennsylvania, USA.  Both were buried in Beavertown, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, USA.  George and Mary had the following children:

  1. Elizabeth ROUSH married Frederick STREYLEY.  They had the following children - Mary Ann STREYLEY, Matilda STREYLEY, Elizabeth  (Eliza) STREYLEY, Lucian STREYLEY, Jerome STREYLEY, Catherine STREYLEY, Jane STREYLEY, Hannah STREYLEY.
  2. Jane ROUSH married Lincoln DAVIS.  Jane and Lincoln had the following children - William DAVIS, Joseph DAVIS, and Sarah Jane DAVIS.
  3. Julian ROUSH.  Nothing more known.
  4. Barbara ROUSH was born on 10 February 1800 in Union County, Pennsylvania, USA.  She was married to Abraham KELLER in 1819.  Abraham died about 1863.  Barbara died 24 April 1892 in Allen County, Ohio, USA.  Barbara and Abraham had the following children - Isaac KELLER, George KELLER, Benjamin KELLER, Henry KELLER, Kate KELLER, Malinda KELLER, Mary KELLER, Elizabeth KELLER, and Sarah KELLER.
  5. Catherine ROUSH was born on 5 April 1801.  She married John A HAINES.  She died on 12 November 1875.  She was buried in St Peters Cemetery, Freeburg, Snyder County, Pennsylvania, USA.
  6. **Henry ROUSH (see below).
  7. Jacob M ROUSH was born on 28 January 1816 in Union County, Pennsylvania, USA.  He appeared on the census in 1850 in Allen County, Ohio, USA.  He was married first to Hannah KANARR.  Jacob and Hannah had the following children - Henry ROUSH, Eliza ROUSH, Mary ROUSH, Anna ROUSH, Joseph ROUSH, and Amelia ROUSH.  He was married second to Elizabeth HOLTZAPPLE between 1842 and 1850.  Jacob and Elizabeth had the following children - Jane ROUSH, Emma ROUSH, Ella ROUSH, Nettie ROUSH, Charles ROUSH, Ida ROUSH, George Washington ROUSH, and William ROUSH.  Jacob died on 10 April 1894 in Allen County, Ohio, USA.
  8. Joseph ROUSH was born on 24 December 1817 in Union County, Pennsylvania, USA.  He was married to Jane KANAVEL on 14 March 1839.  They moved to Allen County, Ohio.  Joseph and Jane had the following children - Cornelius (Neal) ROUSH, Solomon ROUSH, Hiram H ROUSH, John K ROUSH, Edward ROUSH, and Isaac ROUSH.
  9. Anna ROUSH was born on 19 March 1824 in Juniata County, Pennsylvania, USA.  She was married to Jacob Dritt DOSCH on 17 October 1841.  They moved to Wisconsin in 1850.  Anna died on 26 June 1906 in Richland Center, Richland County, Wisconsin, USA.  Anna and Jacob had the following children - John Christopher DOSCH, Edmund DOSCH, Mary Emma DOSCH, Lewis Evans DOSCH, William Henry DOSCH, George Ellwood DOSCH, Diana Dritt DOSCH, Hail DOSCH, Endora DOSCH, James Culvin DOSCH, Frederick DOSCH.

**Henry ROUSH was born on 25 March 1803 in Miffinburg, Union County, Pennsylvania, USA.  During a few years of his early manhood he followed the trade of blacksmith, but the remainder of his life was spent in agricultural pursuits.  He was married first to Elizabeth MOREHEAD about 1824.  Elizabeth MOREHEAD was born in Centre County, Pennsylvania, USA.  She died in 1843 in Miffintown, Juniata County, Pennsylvania, USA.  Henry and Elizabeth had the following children:

  1. George ROUSH was born on 5 February 1825 in Miffinburg, Union County, Pennsylvania, USA.  He was married to Elizabeth PONTIAS in 1846.  He died in Michigan, USA.  George and Elizabeth had the following children - Margaret ROUSH, Wilson ROUSH, Albert ROUSH, Alonzo ROUSH, Martin ROUSH, Grace ROUSH, David R J ROUSH.
  2. John ROUSH was born on 29 June 1827 in Miffinburg, Union County, Pennsylvania, USA.  He was married to Mary Jane JENKINS on 28 August 1856 in Allen County, Ohio, USA.  Mary Jane JENKINS was born on 14 March 1832.  She died on 9 April 1899.  John died on 5 February 1918 in Lima, Allen County, Ohio, USA.  Both were buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Lima, Allen County, Ohio, USA.  Section 8, lot 43.  John and Mary Jane had the following children - William ROUSH, Essie ROUSH, Bertha ROUSH, David ROUSH.
  3. Joseph Allen ROUSH was born on 6 March 1829 in Miffinburg, Union County, Pennsylvania, USA.  He was married to Mary J ANDERSON.  They moved to Georgia.
  4. William Henry ROUSH Sr was born on 26 February 1831 in Miffinburg, Union County, Pennsylvania, USA.  He was married to Sarah Anna OSMUN.  Sarah Anna OSMUN was born on 6 March 1833.  William died in June 1899 in Kansas, USA.  William and Sarah had the following children - Andrew Jackson ROUSH, William Henry ROUSH Jr, Joseph Franklin ROUSH, Mary Elizabeth ROUSH, Luella Jane ROUSH, Milton Montgomery ROUSH, Ulysses Grant ROUSH, Edmund Davis ROUSH, Emma Elnora ROUSH, and Ida May ROUSH.
  5. Catherine ROUSH was born on 27 July 1834 in Miffinburg, Union County, Pennsylvania, USA.  She was married to Willis COPELAND in Lima, Allen County, Ohio, USA.  Willis COPELAND was born on 24 June 1828.  He died on 2 August 1895.  She died on 4 January 1915.  Both were buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Lima, Allen County, Ohio, USA.  Catherine and Willis had the following children - Henry COPELAND, Alonzo COPELAND, Isaiah COPELAND, Mary COPELAND, Nora COPELAND, Anna COPELAND, Blanche COPELAND, and Catherine COPELAND.
  6. Henry R ROUSH was born on 16 July 1836 in Miffinburg, Union County, Pennsylvania, USA.  He was married to Elizabeth DAUBERMAN on 9 May 1858.  They moved to Iowa.
  7. Franklin ROUSH was born on 1 October 1838 in Miffinburg, Union County, Pennsylvania, USA.  He served in Civil War in the 11th Reg, Company D, Ohio Volunteer Infantry.  He was a farmer and wood stirrup manufacturer.  He was married to Mahala HARVEY (daughter of George N HARVEY and Nancy SLY) on 6 March 1862 in Lima, Allen County, Ohio, USA by Hiram Protsman, JP.  Mahala HARVEY was born on 24 August 1842.  She died on 16 December 1909. Franklin died on 17 March 1917.  Both were buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Lima, Allen County, Ohio, USA.  Franklin and Mahala had the following children - Willis ROUSH, John F ROUSH, Bertha Ellen ROUSH, Araminta ROUSH, William ROUSH, Mary ROUSH, Alanson George ROUSH, Oliver S (Ollie) ROUSH, James Delbert ROUSH, Iona Pearl ROUSH, and Grace May ROUSH.
  8. Philip ROUSH was born on 26 December 1840 in Miffintown, Juniata County, Pennsylvania, USA.  He was married to Nancy A MASON in Lima, Allen County, Ohio, USA.  Nancy A MASON was born in 1843.  The family appeared on the census in 1880 in Bath Township, Allen County, Ohio, USA (Household #171).  Nancy died in 1918.  Philip died in 1919 in Allen County, Ohio, USA.  Both were buried in Bluelick Cemetery, Allen County, Ohio, USA.
  9. Jacob ROUSH was born on 18 March 1842 in Miffintown, Juniata County, Pennsylvania, USA.  He moved to Illinois.

Henry was married second to Susannah WINEGARDNER (daughter of Mathias WINEGARDNER and ? DURST) in 1844 in Juniata County, Pennsylvania, USA.  Susannah WINEGARDNER was born on 8 November 1814 in Mifflin County, Pennsylvania, USA.  Henry Roush came to Allen County in 1852, and located in Bath Township on the farm where he spent his life.  He was at one time captain of a company of State militia.  Susannah died on 7 October 1887 in Allen County, Ohio, USA.  She was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Lima, Allen County, Ohio, USA.  Henry and Susannah had the following children:

  1. Theodore ROUSH was born on 18 January 1847 in Miffinburg, Union County, Pennsylvania, USA.  He served in the Civil War.  He was married to Martha DILTZ.  Martha DILTZ was born on 16 March 1843.  She died on 6 August 1893.  Theodore died on 8 March 1926 in Lima, Allen County, Ohio, USA.  Both were buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Lima, Allen County, Ohio, USA.  Section 8, lot 43.  Theodore and Martha had the following children - Cora ROUSH, and Cloyd ROUSH.
  2. Jane ROUSH was born on 4 December 1848 in Miffinburg, Union County, Pennsylvania, USA.  She was married to Samuel BOOSE.  She died on 10 April 1901.  She was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Lima, Allen County, Ohio, USA.  Jane and Samuel had the following children - Mary S BOOSE, Emma J BOOSE, Henry R BOOSE, Sarah R BOOSE, Katie A BOOSE, Maggie B BOOSE, Martha A BOOSE, Cora M BOOSE, and Gracie I BOOSE.
  3. ** Emma ROUSH (see below)
  4. Ephraim ROUSH was born on 6 March 1852 in Lima, Allen County, Ohio, USA.  He was married to Lutitia NUNEMAKER.  Lutitia NUNEMAKER was born in 1856.  She died in 1941.  He died in 1946.  Both were buried in Bluelick Cemetery, Allen County, Ohio, USA.  Ephraim and Lutitia had the following children - Pearl ROUSH and Ruth Irene ROUSH.

Henry appeared on the census in

  • 1850 Fermanagh Township, Juniata County, Pennsylvania, Household #1500
  • 1860 Bath Township, Allen County, Ohio, Household #329
  • 1870 Bath Township, Allen County, Ohio, Household #140
  • 1880 Bath Township, Allen County, Ohio, Household #100

Henry died on 18 May 1881 in Daulphin, Allen County, Ohio, USA.  He was buried on 20 May 1881 in Woodlawn Cemetery, Lima, Allen County, Ohio, USA.

** Emma ROUSH was born on 7 May 1850 in Miffintown, Juniata County, Pennsylvania, USA.  She was married to Francis M ROBERTS (son of Warren ROBERTS and Mary A RUMBAUGH) on 25 February 1872 in Allen County, Ohio, USA.  See the Roberts Family home page for more on this family and descendants.
