John McDowell
GUFFY was born on 22 December 1782. John served in the War of 1812
in the Second Ohio Militia in Jas Taylor’s Company. County history
states that John came to Putnam County, Ohio in 1820 and entered a
tract of land in Sugar Creek Township, but did not come to permanently
reside until 1831 when he gained additional land where he made his home
until his death. Of his land, forty acres were obtained with a warrant
granted him for services in the War of 1812. This tract was increased
to three hundred and four acres, as well as one hundred and twenty
acres in Kansas that he owned. The Ottawa River Church in Rimer, Ohio
was built on land that was donated by John in 1862. John was married
to Pamela PUNTENNEY about 1804. Pamela PUNTENNEY was born about
1788 in Greene County, Ohio, USA. She died before 1810 in Franklin
County, Ohio, USA. John McDowell GUFFY and Pamela PUNTENNEY had the
