personally appeared before me, a

in and for the aforesaid County, duly authorized to administer
oaths, John
Jones,
aged 23
years, a resident of
Sunbright
in the County of Morgan
and State of
Tennessee
whose Post-office address is Sunbright,
well known to me to be reputable
and entitled to credit, and who,
being duly sworn, declares
for himself, in relation to aforesaid case as follows: he
is well acquainted with William C. Overstreet for 8. years and that to
the best of his knowledge and belief the disabilities of Deafness and Rheumatism
of the above claimant are not the result of vicious habits on his
part & his reputation as to truth is good in his neighborhood. Affiant
States that his means of Knowledge of obtaining the above statements made
he lived a near neighbor to the claimant and worked for him when he was
wholy unable to do any labour at all and Knows that he is troubled with
said Diseases to date that the statement contained in the affidavit were
written in my presence and from my oral Statement by L.B. Goad that said
oral statements were made to L.B. Goad on the 11 day of April 1896 at Elgin
Scott Co. Tenn and that in making the same he did not use and was not aided
or promped by any Written or printed Statement or recital prepared or dictated
by any other person.
I
further declare that I have no interest in said case and not concerned
in its prosecution.
