The Wolf Record ~ pages 42-43

During the 1840's - 1860's, a bounty was paid by the county and state for each full-grown wolf killed.

06 January 1844 John M. Reed was paid $8.00 (county) and $8.00 (state).

There were many names of the wolf hunters listed including an Indian Wat-u-noka paid 06 January 1852 $8.00 (state) and $5.00 (county).

The first post-office in the township was kept by Jonathan Howard, on section 32. William Heywood was appointed postmaster, and the office was kept at his residence for many years on section 22, until it's discontinuance in March, 1879.
