Walton Family

David Walton Jr.
We have only begun to research the Walton name, but have found it an exciting undertaking. Numerous journals, periodicals and books have taken great interest in the Walton name. However, like every other surname, there are those that just do not fit in to the puzzle that you are working on. Much of the information is thought to be accurate. However, we have not personally proven all data ourselves. It is advised you seek proof if you plan to use any part of the list.
We do know and prove that David W. Walton was the first white settler in Cedar County, Iowa, 1835. His wife, Mary Parker Walton, was the first white woman to prepare and cook a meal in Cedar County, Iowa
Our research has taken us New Jersey, and many other states, including Abolina Walton Cottar, who lived for a time in Red Bluff, California. She is buried in Red Bluff, CA, alongside her husband.

| There are questions regarding certain spouses and children in a couple of families. For that reason, I have omitted speculation rather than cloud the issues. Further, Emma Cottar wrote, in a note to her family, George Walton was indeed a branch of this Walton Family, although there are no living direct descendants. This has yet to be proved. I have not included generations 9, 10, and 11, out of respect for the privacy of living persons and recently deceased. ~Karen |
