General Info:Raymond arrived in America in 1880. Three years later Fredrich arrived and traveled to Minneapolis. Three years later Adolph and Hulda arrived with Bertha, Hulda's sister and Reinholdt Zieska, Bertha's future husband. Arriving on the Polynesia leaving Hamburg, Germany, docking onto New York on the 24 March 1886 and arriving in Minneapolis 18 April 1886, generally these trips took about 40 to 45 days on a good trip, 65 to 72 days on bad ones. Reinholdt and Bertha married in Minneapolis. To get married in Germany would have cost a lot money as for the high taxes that the men had to pay if they married before they turned 40 years old.
Census records show that Raymond lived with Fredrich and listed him as boarder
and as a brother. His name was not listed in any of the phone directory.
The 1920 census shows Raymond as a truck driver. Even though he lived with Fredrich there never was a mention of him in obit notices of family members. Locating a death certificate is becoming a challenge.
The census records gave his birth place as Berlin, not in Posen as some of his siblings.
