Interested in any information concerning the McWATERS family of St.
Charles county, MO.
Hugh McWaters and his wife Mary may have been born in KY. On the 1850
census they were enumerated in St. Charles Co. with the following children:
John, William, Hugh, a boy which looks like "Allen", and Rosell.
A second family, that of Wilford McWaters, was living very close to Hugh,
and given their ages, they mave have been brothers (36 & 38).
Rosell (Rozella, Rosalia, have seen it spelled many ways!) ended up
in Illinois, where she married Benjamin E. Fielder in Scott Co. in 1870.
They eventually moved to Pike Co., IL.

Alfred James Fielder, born Feb. 1838 in Southampton, Hampshire, England.
He imigrated around 1850 to Massachusetts or New Hampshire. He became a
mariner- rigger and in Dec. 1860 enlisted in the Union Navy as a seaman.
Served three years and was discharged in Feb. 1864 at Portsmouth N.H. He
married Catharine Mullen a native of Ireland, in Boston the nextday,
Feb.21,1864. He probably went sea. On Dec.24,1864 their daughter Mary Josephine
Fielder was born in Boston. The family lived on Hull St. at that time.
Alfred can be found under the name of James Alfred Fielder in many papers.
(I think he didn't like the name Alfred) He remained at sea, out of New
England. In 1879 he shows up in the city directories of San Francisco.
He can be found in the S.F. directories from 1879-1891. In 1885 he worked
for the J.S. Salmon Co. out of S.F. Catharine (Mullen) died on Deer Island,
Mass., Oct.23,1887. James (Alfred) remarried probably in San Francisco
in 1888. He married Julie L. Murden a native of Kentucky. His daughter
Mary Josephine Fielder came to San Francisco around 1884. They never got
along. In 1896 James (Alfred) and Julie moved to Vallejo Ca. He took a
job at the Mare Island Navy Yard as a rigger. Josephine married a man,
name unknown who murdered another man, and was divorced. She married again
and this young man died. She married Squire Openshaw in probably in 1888
in S.F. (all offical San Francisco records were destroyed in the fire and
earthquake of 1906) But, I'll research the church records. Their children
were, Ethel Openshaw b. 1889 Alameda, Alameda Co., Ca. d. 1974 Las Vegas
Nv. Olive Openshaw b. 1891 Alameda, Alameda Co., Ca. d. 1972 Walnut Creek,
Ca. Bill Openshaw b. Alameda, Alameda Co., Ca. d. San Francisco, Ca. Squire
Openshaw b. 1894 Alameda, Alameda Co., d. 1981 Alameda, Ca. It should be
noted that a child from the second marriage, was known as Fred Openshaw
was born in 1887. Squire Openshaw died Dec.18,1897 in Alameda. James worked
on the Navy Yard until his death, Feb.6,1908. Mary Josephine later married
Timothio (Timothy) Garcia and had three children, Anita, Juan and Alfred
Garcia. Mary Josephine Fielder died July 21,1922 in Oakland,Ca. The children

I'm certain the John L. Fielder is connected to the one who married
my Grandmother. My Grandfather Old Trader John deserted this family when
my Grandfather Obadiah was about one year old. This would have been in
about 1764. The were in Albemarle County, Virginia. It was after this that
Willliam Terrell Lewis moved to Surry County, North Carolina and Elizabeth
moved to be near him. Possibly she lived with him. I don't know when John
and Elizabeth got married. She couldn't have married him right away since
she was a deserted wife and it is my understanding that so many years had
to go by even then. Anyway, she and John had three kids:Jack, who married
a Miss McCutcheon; Nimrod Fielder who married Elizabeth Riggs and had five
kids and the third one was Elizabeth who was born in 1780. They had nine
kids. Your John L. Fielder must be a child of Nimrod or later. Elizabeth
Lewis was born in 1740 and no date is given on John. They were in Surry
County< N. C. and then went on to Williamson County. That is where Elizabeth
died.Nimrod Fielder died in 1854 in Huntsville,, Alabama. This might give
you some insight as to where to look further. No. ON these, I paid $93.00
to have Genealogy of the Lewis Family in America, published in 1893. Then
I have the Micro-fiche on Pioneer Lewis Families but haven't begun to read-no
time. Also have Herbert Fielder phamplet but that was no help either.

Samuel Fielder was born 1760 in Prince William County, VA to Jane Tyler
and William Fielder. Samuel was a Rev soldier, married first to Nancy Tyler,
a cousin. They had 2 children, Elizabeth and Benjamin. Nancy died after
the birth of Benjamin at 21 years of age. Samuel married Frances Leachman
the same year (1791) and they had 10 children. He died in Gibson Co., TN
in 1856. If Samuel Fielder was in Prince William County, is there proof
of that? Samuel married Nancy Tyler (her cousin) after Nancy's father,
Joseph Tyler, was killed by another of Nancy's cousins, John Tyler, after
they didn't get permission to marry and ran away. Joseph caught up with
them, and nephew John shot him. John was executed in Jan 1785. I have lots
of stuff on Tylers. Maybe Nancy and Samuel moved to Prince Edward Co. after
they were married. All the Tylers were in Westmoreland Co. first (1690)
Charles and Jane, then moved about, but Nancy Tyler, Benjamin Tyler, and
parents Joseph and Elizabeth were in Prince William County, VA. I have
nothing on Ruebin. John Brown who married Elizabeth Fielder, (daughter
of Nancy above) and Samuel had a bunch of kids. One,Katurah Brown, married
William Butler. These were my great grandparents. They lived in Caswell

I never thought I would see so many Fielders
in one place as they aren't exactly a large family.

Comments: I am a FIELDER by birth. My father was Collinwood Fielder
of POOLE, England. Married my mother Hazel Walker (Sydney, Australia) about
1940. I know we have relations in many countries - maybe you are one? This
is a great page!

Comments: In a separate E-mail you indicated an interest in a marriage:

whatever I can. Sorry but I only know of this Fielder as Samuel

United States 870-236-8118 Looking for parents of Besty Fielder. b. abt
1800, m. David Adams 1816 in Williamson Co. TN, and Susannah Fielder, b.
abt 1792, m. Daniel Adams 1811 in Williamson Co. TN. Both couples moved
to Lauderdale Co. Al. by 1820.Surnames related to the third generation
of this family are: McMILLON, DACUS, SLATTON, PEGG, RUTHERFORD, ROWE, HICKS,
WALKER, OSBORNE, SULLIVAN, FRENCH and VANGILDER, all found in Greene, Craighead
and/or Clay Counties, Arkansas, before 1900. Other Lines: ADAMS, ARMSTRONG,
FIELDER, GATLIN, LEE, JOHNSTON, PITCOCK, PRICE, ROBINSON. Adams line who
migrated to Greene County from Lauderdale County, Alabama. My great-great-great-grandfather
was David Adams who married a Betsy Fielder in 1816 in Williamson County,
Tennessee. Betsy was David's first wife and I am not certain as to which
of his children were hers as I do not know when she died. She did not accompany
him to Greene County, Arkansas, but several Fielders lived near him and
I've wondered if they might be Betsy's relatives. Betsy's parents might
have been James Fielder and Sarah "Sallie" Benge, but I have
not been able to confirm that. I recently received information about a
Fielder family from Williamson Co., TN, which includes an Elizabeth (who
could be my Betsy). Elizabeth's known siblings were Jack (probably John),
Nimrod and Mary and their parents were John Fielder and Elizabeth Lewis
who were married in 1772 in Surrey Co., NC. Elizabeth Lewis was born in
1740 and died in Williamson Co., TN. One of my cousins, whom I discovered
on the Internet and with whom I have been collaborating on the Adams line,
has sent for a copy of the marriage document of Betsy Fielder and David
Adams. We hope it will provide us with new information. Incidentally, I
live in Paragould, the county seat of Greene Co. AR. Adams/Fielder
Family.

I am from the family of James Madison
Creel of Davidson Co., Tennesse who married Tamar Fielder. Tamar was born
9 May 1807, I thought in either Tn. (1860 Census) or Va. Her first childern
were born in Lauderdale Co. Alabama in 1833 though 1844 , Tamar, her next
daughter's birth is unknow (Ala. or Tn.as records conflict) but her next
daughter, Tenneysee was born in Hardin Co. Tn. in 1849 as were her next
two children, last birth, l854. This fits with the date that John L. Fielder
was in that county. I have records taken from James Madison's family Bible
and notes taken from my conversation with Isa White Wagner, a ggrandaughter
of James Madison and Tamar Fielder Creel. Her grandmother,Tamar, had two
sisters, one was Polly Fielder who married Hugh White's mother. Her grandmother
say the generation before Fielder was Biggers.
