36. James W.4 Williamson (John3, Henry2, Abraham1) was born in Illinois 1835. Tombstone reads 1835-1911, census record age varies. James died 1911 in Illinois. James W., Ellen M., and John Williamson are all buried at New Hope Cemetery according to Kent Williamson. Dates on tombstone are 1835-1911 for James W. Williamson.
He married twice. He married Elizabeth Williamson in Jefferson Co., Illinois, August 18, 1864.(847) Elizabeth was born in Jefferson Co.,
Illinois January 1840. She was the daughter of Henry Williamson and Polly J. Bond. Elizabeth died March 15,
1884 in Marion Or Jefferson Co., Il. Her body was interred after March 15, 1884 in Hickory Hill Cem., Marion Co., Il..
Elizabeth Williamson, March 15,1884 -age 44 yrs. 2 mo. I believe this Elizabeth Williamson is the person who married James W. Williamson.
Kent Williamson believes James W. married a daughter of a William John Williamson named Elizabeth. But Henry Jr.'s daughter was born in 1840
according to 1850 census, and Elizabeth's tombstone at Hickory Hill (where several other family members are also buried) says: Elizabeth
Williamson d.March 15,1884 44 yrs. 2 mo. That would make her birthdate Jan.1840, and would be in line with Henry's daughter's age. James W.
& Elizabeth also lived next door to her brother Thomas in 1880 Marion Co.,IL. Elizabeth had a brother named James W. which is another
addition to the confusion in these families.
He married Ellen M. Jones in IL., November 5, 1884. 1900 Jefferson Co.,IL. census shows wife Elba or
Ella , married 15 years. Kent Williamson gave me the date of Nov.5,1884 (did not mention county).
Ellen was born in Illinois April 1854. She was the daughter of Elias Jones and Elizabeth Damon. Ellen
died 1940 in New Hope Cemetery, South of Belle Rive,IL..
James was listed as the head of a family on the 1880 Census in Romine Twp.,Marion Co.,IL..(848) James was listed as the head of a family on the 1900 Census in
Pendelton Twp.,Jefferson Co.,IL..(849) I had
believed that Vincent P. Williamson was this James W. Williamson's father. Several older family researchers have said that James & Elizabeth
were cousins. However, Kent Williamson says that the James W. who married Elizabeth Williamson was John Williamson's son. This family is
very confusing. Kent may very well be correct. Kent says the Ella/Elba shown as wife of 15 yrs. on the 1900 census is actually Ellen M.
Jones. She had a son before the marriage named William Jones (1884-1972) according to Kent. He was not in their house-hold in 1900.
