1. James A.¹ Smith was born about 1840.

He married Winna Joanna Byars in La?, about 1860. Winna was born about 1840. Winna died after 1865.

James A. Smith and Winna Joanna Byars had the following children:

2 i. Alice² Smith. She married Harmon Haney.

3 ii. Theresa Viola Smith was born in Athens, Claiborne Parish, La January 22, 1862. Theresa died January 28, 1901 in Chism, Mcclain Co., Ok, at 39 years of age. Her body was interred after January 28, 1901 in Old Johnsonville Cem., Ok. She married Marion Everett Haney in Cherokee Chaple, Fort Smith, Ar., 1900. Marion was born in Jefferson Co., Illinois August 17, 1852. He was the son of William Haney and Delilah Haney. He married Sara Howard in Chism, Mcclain Co., Ok, August 11, 1918. Chism became a ghost-town, no longer exists.

Marion died May 22, 1935 in Byars (chism), Mcclain Co., Ok, at 82 years of age. Alma Stone says Marion E. died at home, in Chism,OK. But Chism no longer exists.

His body was interred after May 22, 1935 in Mcgee Cemetery, Stratford, Ok.. Marion was listed as the head of a family on the 1900 Census in Garvin Co.,OK.(638) (See Marion Everett Haney for the continuation of this line.)
