He married Margaret E. Blanton in Jefferson Co.,IL., January 13, 1859.(315) Margaret was born in Sumner Co.,TN. 1840. She was the daughter of Archie Jefferson Blanton and Catherine ?. Margaret died March 2, 1880 in IL.⁽³¹⁶⁾ Her body was interred after March 2, 1880 in Mt.Zion Cemetery,Jefferson Co.,IL..⁽³¹⁷⁾

He was inducted into the military in Olney, IL., April 6, 1865. John Westly Haney was drafted into the Civil War on April 6, 1865 by Captain Scott at Olney, IL. He term was one year. John W. Haney was a Private in the 65th Regiment of the Illinois Infantry, Co. E. John W. Haney's military papers describe him as 5 ft. 8 in. tall, black eyes, brown hair, dark complexion, age 28, a farmer. John W. Haney was discharged from service on July 3, 1865 at Greensboro, North Carolina by Captain Smith.

He was released from active duty in Greensboro,NC., July 3, 1865. John Westly Haney served in the Civil War as a Private of the 65th Reg't Illinois Infantry, Co-E. He was a farmer from Jefferson Co.,IL. John W. Haney died in 1878 and left behind his widow Margaret and five under-age children. When Margaret died two years later of pneumonia, the children were taken in by different families.

49 i. Melvina E.⁵ Haney was born in Jefferson Co.,IL. December 3, 1859. Melvina died before 1941. She married John N. See in Jefferson Co.,IL., March 14, 1880.(318) John was born in KY about 1860. John was listed as the head of a family on the 1880 Census in Farrington Twp.,Jefferson Co.,IL..⁽³¹⁹⁾

50 ii. Charlotte Haney was born in IL. about 1860. Charlotte died before 1872 in IL..⁽³²⁰⁾ The dates are estimated, she was deceased before the children applied for pension from John W. Haney's military service.

52 iv. Margaret Ella Haney was born in Jefferson Co.,IL. June 24, 1866. Ella died after 1941. She married David M. Fry in Jefferson Co.,IL., June 10, 1884.(321) David was born in Illinois 1862. 1880 census shows David as Marcus b.1865, and a twin of William H. Fry. He was the son of William T. Fry and Mary A. Norman.

She resided in Paw-Paw, Michigan 1941. This info. is from A.C. Haney's obituary, though it says Mrs. James Fry.

53 v. John G. Haney was born in Jefferson Co.,IL. February 26, 1868. John died before 1941. He resided in Farrington Twp.,Jefferson Co.,IL. 1880.⁽³²²⁾ John was living in his uncle William Blanton's household in 1880.

54 vi. Judith C. Haney was born in Jefferson Co.,IL. September 18, 1869. Judith died after 1941. She married twice. She married J.T. Howell in Jefferson Co.,IL., April 27, 1892.(323) She married unknown Moore before 1941.

She resided in Farrington Twp.,Jefferson Co.,IL. 1880.(324) Judith was listed as Mrs. Judith Moore in her brother, A. C. Haney's obituary, as a survivor. So she died sometime after May 1941.

55 vii. James Ransom Haney was born in Jefferson Co.,IL. December 6, 1871. Ransom died after 1941. He resided in Farrington Twp.,Jefferson Co.,IL. 1880.⁽³²⁵⁾ James Ransom Haney was living with John & Melvina Lee in Farrington Township, Jefferson County, IL. in 1880, listed as an orphan. Next door was his sister Judith, with David & Hester Ann Lee. When Ransom's brother, Acey, died, Ransom was listed as living in Smithville, Arkansas and his two sisters, Judy and Margaret were also listed as survivors.
