1. Shadrick "Shady"¹ Hill was born in Indiana August 28, 1846. Shadrick died before 1924 in Marion Co.,IL.. Burial at Hickory Hill Cemetery, only sandstone marker, which is deteriorated.

He married three times. He married Editha Unknown in Illinois, about 1867. Editha was born in Illinois 1847. Editha died before 1897 in Illinois. He married Mrs. Ann Ball in Marion Co.,IL., June 8, 1881.(354) He married Caroline Turner in Illinois, 1897. Caroline was born in Lawrence Co.,IL. December 23, 1856. On some records 1854 is given. She was the daughter of John R. Turner and Sarah Ann Fiscus.

She married Samuel Michael in Lawrence Co., Il, May 13, 1880.(355) She married Calvin Anspach in Marion Co.,IL., July 4, 1924.⁽³⁵⁶⁾ Caroline died July 16, 1940 in Marion Co.,IL., at 83 years of age. On some records July 6 is given.

Her body was interred July 18, 1940 in Wooley Cemetery, Iuka, Il..⁽³⁵⁷⁾ Caroline Turner married Samuel Michael 1st, had six children. Two of the girls (first, Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" and after her death, Minnie) married Charles Williamson. Charles & Lizzie's only daughter, Effie Williamson married John Oscar Anspach. Later, Caroline married John O. Anspach's father, Calvin Anspach. So Caroline became her grand-daughter's mother-in-law.

Shadrick "Shady" Hill and Editha Unknown had the following children:

3 ii. Hanna E. Hill was born in Marion Co.,IL. 1875.

4 iii. John H. Hill was born in Marion Co.,IL. 1879. Editha Hill was not on the 1880 census, she may have died in childbirth with John or soon after from complications.
