He was the son of Lafayette "Lafe" Jones and Cynthia A. Michael.

Franklin died March 7, 1965 in Richland Memorial Hosp., Richland Co.,IL., at 90 years of age. His body was interred after March 7, 1965 in Mount Hope Cem., Richland Co.,IL..
