2. John R. Grear Or2 Greear (Mr.1 Grear) was born before 1838.
He married Nancy Craig 1856. John R. Grear is the first known ancestor of the following lines of Grear/Greear
families. There is a John R. Grear listed on the IL. Civil War database: PVT, Co. F, Unit 97 and his residence was Ramsey. On the Company
"F" 97th Illinois Infantry page it states his date of Muster as September 8, 1862. Under remarks it states: Died at Arkansas Post,
January 18, 1863.
