4. Jonathan² Parkison (John¹) was born in PA. July 29, 1800.⁽⁸⁰⁹⁾ Jonathan died January 10, 1871 in Shelby County, Indiana, at 70 years of age. His body was interred after January 10, 1871 in Middletown Cem., Shelby Co., IN..⁽⁸¹⁰⁾

He married Mary A. Criss in Decatur County, Indiana, April 2, 1835.(811) Mary was born in Maryland February 19, 1814. She was the daughter of Abraham Sr. Criss or Chriss and Catherine Ann unknown. Mary died April 16, 1889 in Shelby County, Indiana, at 75 years of age. Last Will and Testament of Jonathan Parkinson: From the court clerk's transcription, found in Book 1, p 296, of Will Records of Shelby County, IN:

I Jonathan Parkerson of Decatur County* and State of Indiana do make and publish this my last Will and Testament. 1st I direct that all my just debts be paid out of the first moneys that come into the hands of my Executor arising out of my personal Estate. 2nd I direct give and devise to my beloved wife Mary Parkerson if she should out live me, the use of the farm on which we now reside and also all the personal property of which I may be seized at my demise, for the purpose of raising the minor children and to enjoy Said property both real and personal as long as She the Said Mary Pakerson may live, And at her death I direct that the property be divided as follows, I give and bequeath to my two grand Children, daughters of Emaline Anspach, which grand children are known by the name of Ann Anspach, Martha Anspach Twenty dollars each as their full share of my Estate And I further direct that my Son John W Parkerson and my daughter Henry Ett Parkerson, have each the sum of two Hundred and Fifty dollars out of my estate and that after receiving said two hundred and fifty dollars each, that be equal heirs with the remainder of my children in the remainder of my estate, both personal and Real, So that said John W Parkerson and Henry Ett Parkerson will each have two hundred and fifty dollars more of my Estate than Any of my other Children, and that all of my other children Shall Share and Share alike in my estate leaving the Setting and disposing of the Share of each one of my children to themselves or their Guardians, in case they want to convert any of the property which may come to them, into Money. I do hereby revoke all former wills by me made. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this 19th day of September in the year 1862.

* Jonathan was living in Decatur Co when the will was made and signed in 1862. When Jonathan died (late 1870 or early 1871), he was living in Shelby Co. Submitted by Robert Parkison.

Jonathan Parkison and Mary A. Criss had the following children:

9 i. Sarah³ Parkison was born in IN 1836.

10 ii. John W. Parkison was born in IN October 8, 1837.

11 iii. Emeline Parkison was born in Indiana about 1838. Emeline died before 1858 in Indiana. She married John Jr. Anspach in Shelby County, Indiana, August 30, 1855.(812) John was born in Decatur County, Indiana December 5, 1834. A biographical sketch gives 1832 as date of birth. Date used estimated from death record. He was the son of John Anspach and Lydia Bailey.

He married Mary Jane Parkison in Shelby County, Indiana, April 25, 1858. John died after 1884 in Jasper Co.,IL..⁽⁸¹³⁾ John was listed as the head of a family on the 1860 Census in Sand Creek Twp.,Decatur Co.,IN..⁽⁸¹⁴⁾ John was listed as the head of a family on the 1870 Census in Willow Hill Twp., Jasper Twp., IL.⁽⁸¹⁵⁾ John was listed as the head of a family on the 1880 Census in Jasper Co.,IL.⁽⁸¹⁶⁾ (See John Jr. Anspach for the continuation of this line.) Emeline does not appear in the 1850 census with rest of the Parkison family, the Will is only tie to Jonathan found, and marriage record is tie to John Anspach.

12 iv. Catherine Parkison was born in IN 1840.

13 v. Mary A. Parkison was born in IN 1842.

14 vi. Phebe E. Parkison was born in IN June 24, 1844.

15 vii. Abraham J. Parkison was born in IN 1846.

16 viii. Moses A. Parkison was born in IN March 31, 1849.

17 ix. Henrietta Parkison was born in IN March 6, 1855.

18 x. William H. Parkison was born in IN May 18, 1858.
