He married Catharine Matthews in Decatur Co.,IN., September 22, 1839. Catharine was born in IN. 1821. She married Alexander McGeffon in IL?, before 1870. Catherine is listed as a McGeffon in 1870 Stanford Twp.,Clay Co.,IL. under Alexander McGeffon. Missouri & Frank Israel are in their household, along with Alexander's children by previous marriage. Family number 195, pg.287.

Thomas was listed as the head of a family on the 1850 Census in Adams Twp.,Decatur Co.,IN.(668) Thomas was listed as the head of a family on the 1860 Census in T3N, R6E, P.O. Flora, Clay Co.,IL..⁽⁶⁶⁹⁾ I have conflicting reports on Thomas Israel Jr. His direct descendants have claimed he only married once, to Catherine Matthews. But I have seen family groups sheets that state Thomas Jr. married Sarah Liggett on Oct.1 1840. I do not think this is the correct Thomas Israel, since the 1860 Clay Co.,IL. census has Thomas & Catherine still living together. I do not know if Thomas Sr. was actually the one who married Sarah Liggett- or if Sarah was actually Jane or Sarah Jane Liggett? There was a daughter of Jane Ligett living in Thomas Sr. household with them in 1850, named Sarah, born 1836.

27 ii. Sarah Israel was born in IN about 1841. Age taken from 1850 census.

28 iii. Jane Israel was born in IN 1843. Age taken from 1850 census.

30 v. David Israel was born in IN 1847. Age taken from 1850 census.

31 vi. Moses T Israel was born in IN 1849. Age taken from 1850 census.

32 vii. Missouri Israel was born in IL 1856. In 1870, Missouri aged 14 & brother Frank aged 11 were in Alexander McGreffon's household in Stanford Twp., Clay Co.,IL.

33 viii. Francis F Israel was born in Clay Co.,IL. 1859.
