5. John³ Israel (Thomas², Joseph or John¹) was born in Nelson Co., Kentucky July 29, 1806. Info. from Sue Bleger, through J. Robert Israel. John died April 11, 1879 in Decatur Co.,IN., at 72 years of age.

He married Mary Jamison in Decatur Co.,IN., Jun.20,1830.(666) Mary was born in Dauphin Co.,PA. 1810. Ernest R. Boyd gives this estimation and birthplace.

John was listed as the head of a family on the 1850 Census in Adams Twp.,Decatur Co.,IN.⁽⁶⁶⁷⁾ I think this is the John Israel that appears in the Probate Court Records Book C, p.6 & Book D, p. 376, p.614, and p.773, in Decatur Co.,Indiana. John may have been the owner of Israel's Mill - I believe it was a saw mill. In Book C, p.6 there is a mention of a plank got from Israel's Mill. In Book D. page 376, John Israel and Willard Cobb were securities for Royal P. Cobb in replacing Eliza Fogg as administrator of Frederick Fogg's estate. Book D., p.614, Nancy Jamison was appointed administratrix Feb.9,1846 of the estate of Francis Jamison deceased with John Israel as her security. Francis must have been a hatter, since the estate listed one lot of hatter's tools, nine fine, smooth caster hats, nine fine cashmere hats, eighteen knoped hats, two round cornered hats, and twenty five unfinished hats. Book D. p.773, John Israel was among those who filed claim against the estate of Joseph E. Self on Oct.24,1845 when administrators were appointed, final settlement of the estate is listed as May 1849.
