He married Sarah Stewart in Shelby Co.,IN, November 28, 1836.(451) Sarah was born in OH February 22, 1821. She was the daughter of John Stewart and Mary Kinney. Sarah died February 17, 1903 in IL?, at 81 years of age.⁽⁴⁵²⁾ Her body was interred after February 17, 1903 in Shiloh Cem., Willow Hill Twp., Jasper Co.,IL. According to Doris Wynn, George was born June 6, 1813 in Virginia and died in Raymondville, Texas Co., Missouri on May 6, 1893. George married Sarah Stewart on November 28, 1836 in Shelby Co., Indiana. George is shown as head-of-household in 1840 Shelby Co., IN. (Noble Twp.); George is 20 and under 30. 1850 Jasper Co., IL. (Willow Hill Twp.); he is 39. 1880 Jasper Co., IL. (Willow Hill Twp.) he is 67. In the May 1882 Newton Press a newspaper of Jasper Co. IL he is listed as a subscriber who now lives in Raymondsville, MO. He is listed again Dec. 21, 1887 as an ex resident.

17 i. Mary J.³ Criss or Chriss was born in IN April 8, 1839. Mary died 1909 in IL. Her body was interred 1909 in Shiloh Cem., Willow Hill Twp., Jasper Co.,IL. She married William Bartlett Selby in Jasper Co.,IL, January 12, 1854. William was born in Rush Co., Indiana June 11, 1833. William died February 9, 1921 in Jasper Co.,IL, at 87 years of age. His body was interred February 10, 1921 in Shiloh Cem., Willow Hill Twp., Jasper Co.,IL.

18 ii. Sarah Ann Criss or Chriss⁽⁴⁵³⁾ was born in Jasper Co.,IL May 10, 1842. Sarah died October 22, 1870 in Jasper Co.,IL, at 28 years of age. Her body was interred after October 22, 1870 in Brockville Cem., Jasper Co., IL. She married John F. Fear in Jasper Co.,IL, January 10, 1860.(454) John was born in Decatur Co.,IN September 22, 1840. John died May 31, 1916 in Jasper Co.,IL, at 75 years of age.⁽⁴⁵⁵⁾

19 iii. Jefferson Criss or Chriss was born 1844. Jefferson died after 1884 in possibly MO.⁽⁴⁵⁶⁾ He married twice. He married Mary Jenkins in Jasper Co.,IL, March 28, 1865.(457) Mary was born in Monmouthshire, Wales August 3, 1847. Mary died about 1868 in Jasper Co.,IL. He married Martha E. McKinney in Jasper Co.,IL, March 1, 1871. Jefferson Chriss is listed in 1850 Jasper Co.,IL census as age 8. Doris included these notes: Civil War general Index to pension files for Union soldiers 1861-1934l Film T288-82, this found in the Crist Update pg. 196, Nov. 1997 - Jefferson Chriss, 25th IL Cavalry, applied for pension in MO on Aug. 27, 1884 application #521132, certificate #314453.

20 iv. Francis E. Criss or Chriss⁽⁴⁵⁸⁾ was born February 15, 1846. She married twice. She married Joseph Michael Catt in Jasper Co.,IL, August 18, 1859.(459) Joseph was born in Jasper Co.,IL 1838. Joseph died August 4, 1895 in Newton, Jasper Co.,IL. His body was interred after August 4, 1895 in Shiloh Cem., Willow Hill Twp., Jasper Co.,IL. Doris Wynn says Francis Chriss divorced Joseph Catt sometime before 1868. Joseph Michael Catt served in the Civil War : Company H, 30th IL Infantry. She married George Washington Chriss in Crawford Co.,IL., September 5, 1868.(460) George Washington Chriss was supposedly Francis E.'s cousin.

21 v. Lewis K. Criss or Chriss⁽⁴⁶¹⁾ was born 1849. He married Mary Shepard in Jasper Co.,IL, September 3, 1868.

+ 22 vi. Sanford C. Criss or Chriss was born April 4, 1851.

23 vii. Abram Criss or Chriss⁽⁴⁶²⁾ was born in Jasper Co.,IL 1854. Abram died 1876 in Jasper Co.,IL. He married Maria Hamilton in Jasper Co.,IL, February 15, 1871.(463)

24 viii. William L. Criss or Chriss was born in IL 1855. He married Margaret Maggie Bergerner in Jasper Co.,IL, May 30, 1893. Margaret was born in IL 1856. She was the daughter of Jacob Bergener and Maggie Stuckey. Marriage Notes for WILLIAM CHRISS and MARGARET BERGERNER: Jasper Co. IL. Book D pg. 208--William L. Chriss, living in Willow Hill, stock dealer, age 37, born in IL; parents were George Chriss and Sarah Stewart; 3rd marriage. Bride was Maggie Shryock, age 37, born In IL, parents were Jacob Bergener and Maggie Stuckey, 2nd marriage. Married at Willow Hill on May 30, 1893. (Jo?)sie Waldren and Ora Selby were witnesses. H.D. 25 ix. Louisa A. Criss or Chriss⁽⁴⁶⁴⁾ was born 1856. She married Nicholas Adami in Jasper Co.,IL, January 1870. Nicholas was born July 12, 1846. Nicholas died July 15, 1911 in Danville,Vermilion Co.,IL, at 65 years of age. His body was interred after July 15, 1911 in Soldier's Home Cem., Danville,IL.. \i0 Nicholas Adami notes from Doris Wynn include: Nick lost his arm or hand in a saw mill accident. Nicholas Adami & his wife Louisiana Adami sold on April 14, 1879 a lot in New Liberty to George Wigol of Coles County. Sandford Chriss was a witness. New Liberty was an old town just about 1 mile west of the present Willow Hill, IL. Her source of both items was Carolyn Chamberlain, a descendant of Nicholas, from a letter received from her 1-10- 2001.

26 x. Martha E. Criss or Chriss was born March 22, 1859. Martha died June 10, 1940 at 81 years of age. Her body was interred after June 10, 1940 in Taylor Cem., Fayette Co.,IL.. She married William E. Benefiel in Jasper Co.,IL, April 14, 1873. William was born in Sullivan Co., IN. December 9, 1851. William died October 2, 1931 at 79 years of age. His body was interred after October 2, 1931 in Taylor Cem., Fayette Co.,IL..
