He married Nancy Holmes in Decatur Co.,IN, May 2, 1841.(419) Nancy was born in Decatur Co.,IN March 23, 1825. She was the daughter of John C. Holmes and Rachel Long.

He resided in Tipton Co.,IN. 1848.(420) He resided in Decatur Co.,IN 1850. He resided in Boone Co.,IN. 1852.(421) William & John filed suites in probate for their parts of William Sr.'s estate in 1846, I believe they both were over 21. William is named first, so I believe him to be older than John. I was sent the Biographical Sketch of John C. Chambers and transcribed it for inclusion in his data. The name of the book & page numbers were included, but not the author or date written or published. I believe the date to be ca.1900-1910. A Biographical History of Boone County, Indiana - p.253-254 - John C. Chambers, a native of Preble Co., Ohio, born May 28, 1820, is the son of William and Barbara (Deem) Chambers, of Irish extraction. The grandfather of Mr. Chambers lived to the extraordinary age of one hundred and seven years, and longevity more than ordinary seems to be a characteristic of this family. William Chambers came to Indiana in 1839 and located in Decatur County, where he followed farming until his death in 1843, his wife dying the same year. They were the parents of thirteen children, named as follows: Polly, Barbara, Catherine, Wilhelmina, Jane, Nancy, Julia, Margaret, William, Joseph, Alexander, and Thomas, all deceased, and John C. John C. Chambers was reared to manhood in Decatur county. In 1848 he bought a small farm in Tipton county, on which he lived a year, moved back to Decatur county, and remained two years, and then came to Boone county, bought eighty acres in Perry township, and lived thereon until 1882, when he sold and bought the forty acre tract, in the same township, on which he now lives in retirement. Mr. Chambers was married in Decatur county in 1841 to Miss Nancy Holmes, who was born in Decatur county, March 23, 1825, a daughter of John C and Rachel (Long) Holmes, natives, respectively, of Virginia and Kentucky. To this union have been born eight children, viz: William; Mary, wife of P. Shirley; Sarah, deceased; Matilda, deceased; George; Nancy, deceased; Maggie, deceased; and Ida, wife of E. D. Worrell. Mr. Chambers and his wife are members of the Baptist church, and in politics he is a democrat. The family is held in the highest esteem by the citizens of the township.

John C. Chambers and Nancy Holmes had the following children:
