Info. from Michael Spaulding, grandson of Donald R. Anspach. Johann-Adam died February 25, 1838 in Fairfield Co.,OH., at 83 years of age. Karen Anspach Bott is a direct descendant & gave me this info. His body was interred after February 25, 1838 in New Reading Cemetery, Reading Twp.,, New Reading.⁽³⁸⁾

He married Barbara Barrav or Barrow in Christ Luthern Church, Stouchsburg,PA., December 28, 1779. Barbara was born August 16, 1760. She was the daughter of George Heinrich Barrov and Mary Magdalena Bogenreif. Barbara died December 9, 1831 in Perry/Fairfield Co.,OH., at 71 years of age. Her body was interred after December 9, 1831 in New Reading Cem., Reading Twp., Perry Co.,OH..(39)

He served in the military during war time September 5, 1776 in South Amboy,NJ..⁽⁴⁰⁾ Johann-Adam served in the military in Tulpehocken, Berks Co., PA, June 1780.⁽⁴¹⁾ Johann-Adam registered to pay taxes in Tulpehocken, Berks Co., PA, 1790.⁽⁴²⁾ Johann-Adam applied for bounty land in Reading Twp.,Perry Co.,OH., 1805.⁽⁴³⁾ John Adam was a farmer. He served in the Revolutionary War under Capt. Michael Furrer. He was stationed at South Amboy, NJ., 5 Sep. 1776. "Revolutionary War, Rank- Sergeant in the Continental Army under Captain Michael Furrer's command of Berks Co. PA" from Pennsylvania Archives 5th Series, Vol. 5, p. 234: Harrisburg Publishing Co., State Printer, 1906. "Amboy, New Jersey, 5 Sept. 1776. - Adam and Philip Anspach, sergeants, Capt. Michael Furrer's Company, organized out of men who resided in Tulpehocken Twp. and the western section of Berks. Battalion of Col. John Patton, a prominent iron master of Heidelberg Twp. who carried on the Berkshire Furnace. They were collected together at Womelsdorf, and while there the battalion was supplied with 1068 rations. A record of the march from that place to Perth Amboy was published in this journal. From the article it would seem that the battalion was formed and marched at the same time." from Berks & Schuylkill Journal. From Linda Meyers' research: The Indian problem the Tulpehocken Region was experiencing may have had an influence on Johann Adam Anspach's decision to take his family to Ohio in 1804 to take advantage of his land grant. In 1801 he moved his family to Lancaster Co. PA, and in 1804, when his children were ages 24-4, he moved to Ohio and settled in New Reading township. The farm was one half mile southwest of New Reading, Perry County, Ohio. He purchased property in Section One for $5 per acre. Scott's History of Fairfield Co.,OH. states that the Anspachs were pioneer settlers prior to 1812. John Adam's family attended the German Reformed Church at Zion Ridge - later named St. Michael's, near Basil, OH. John Adam's will was probated 5 Mar. 1838, with sons Christian & Jacob executors. Both John Adam and his wife Barbara are buried in New Reading Cemetery, Reading Twp., Perry Co.,OH. John Adam Anspach appears on p. 16 of DAR Patriot Index, Vol 1 as serving in New Jersey. Donald R. Anspach states John Adam Anspach was a Sergeant in the Continental Army.

69 ii. Anna Elisabeth Anspach⁽⁴⁴⁾ was born in Berks County, PA October 9, 1781. Anna died April 4, 1855 in Perry County, OH., at 73 years of age. Her body was interred after April 11, 1855 in Binkley Ridge Cem., Perry Co., OH., Binkley Ridge.⁽⁴⁵⁾ She married Phillip Dupler in Fairfield County, Ohio, January 26, 1802. Phillip was born September 1775. Phillip died April 6, 1861 in Perry Co., OH.. His body was interred after April 6, 1861 in Binkley Ridge Cem., Perry Co., OH., Binkley Ridge.(46)

She was baptized in Tulpehocken, Berks Co., PA, October 28, 1781. Religion: Lutheran.⁽⁴⁷⁾ Joel Kenderdine & Linda Meyers differ by a few days on the dates for Anna Elisabeth.

+ 70 iii. Benjamin B. Anspach was born August 16, 1783.

71 iv. Maria Magdelina Anspach⁽⁴⁸⁾ was born in Berks County, PA. May 20, 1785. Maria died July 20, 1854 in Fremont, Perry County, OH., at 69 years of age. Her body was interred after July 20, 1854 in Binkley Ridge Cem., Perry Co., OH., Binkley Ridge.⁽⁴⁹⁾ She married twice. She married Adam Binckley in Ohio, April 8, 1805.(50) She married Ludwick Ridenour in Ohio, after 1805.

She was baptized in Tulpehocken, Berks Co., PA, May 29, 1785. Religion: Lutheran.(51)

73 vi. Johannes Anspach was born in Berks County, PA. March 21, 1789. Johannes died March 8, 1865 in Perry County, OH., at 75 years of age. His body was interred after March 8, 1865 in New Reading Cem., Reading Twp., Perry Co.,OH., New Reading.⁽⁵²⁾ He married Mary Catherine Overmyer in Fairfield Co.,OH., August 20, 1811. Catherine was born in Northumberland or Union Co., PA on October 6, 1793.(53) She was the daughter of Johan Peter Obermayer or Overmyer and Maria Eva Henig. I am told by "Daniel Hensel" that Johannes and Catherine had at least one child, named David. Catherine died July 30, 1873 in Perry Co., OH., at 79 years of age.⁽⁵⁴⁾ Her body was interred after July 30, 1873 in New Reading Cem., Reading Twp.,Perry Co.,OH., New Reading.⁽⁵⁵⁾

74 vii. Anna Catherina Anspach⁽⁵⁶⁾ was born in Berks Co.,PA. June 15, 1791. Anna died March 25, 1865 in Perry County, OH., at 73 years of age. Her body was interred after March 25, 1865 in New Reading Cem., Reading Twp.,Perry Co.,OH., New Reading.⁽⁵⁷⁾ She married Lewis (Ludwig) Ridinghour or Ridenour in Fairfield Co.,OH., July 26, 1808.(58) Lewis was born November 11, 1791. His birth is calculated from his death date info. He was the son of Ludwig Ridenour and Rosina Pflueger.

Lewis died March 15, 1857 in Perry Co., OH., at 65 years of age. His body was interred after March 15, 1857 in New Reading Cem., Reading Twp.,Perry Co.,OH., New Reading.⁽⁵⁹⁾

She was baptized in Tulpehocken, Berks Co., PA, June 26, 1791. Religion: Lutheran.⁽⁶⁰⁾

75 viii. Barbara Rebecca Anspach was born in Berks County or Lancaster County, PA. March 8, 1793. Barbara died December 31, 1875 in Perry County, OH., at 82 years of age. Her body was interred after December 31, 1875 in Binkley Ridge Cem., Perry Co., OH., Binkley Ridge.⁽⁶¹⁾ She married twice. She married Jonathan Zartman in Fairfield County, Ohio, August 28, 1810. Jonathan died before 1818. She married Jacob Spohn in Ohio, June 3, 1818.(62) Jacob was born about 1791. Jacob died December 27, 1849 in Perry Co., OH.. His body was interred after December 27, 1849 in Binkley Ridge Cem., Perry Co., OH., Binkley Ridge.⁽⁶³⁾

76 ix. Hannah Anspach was born in Berks County, PA. December 31, 1794. Juanita has date as 1795, Perry Co.,Ohio. Hannah died after January 1795. She was baptized in Tulpehocken, Berks Co., PA, January 11, 1795. Religion: Lutheran.⁽⁶⁵⁾
