83. (John) Jacob5 Anspach (Michael Mathias4, Johan Jacob3, Johan George2, Johannes Balthasar1, Hans JacobA, Hans HenrichB, JacobC, JacobD, JacobE, AmbrosiusF)(124) was born in Buffalo Valley, Union County, Pennsylvania October 26, 1792.(125) Jacob died February 28, 1859 in Clay County, Illinois, at 66 years of age.(126) His body was interred after February 28, 1859 in Golden Cem.,Harter Twp.,Clay Co.,IL, Golden.(127)

He married Eleanor Israel in Butler County, Ohio, January 4, 1816.(128) Elloner was born in Kentucky May 12, 1800. She was the daughter of Thomas Israel and Christina Deem. Elloner died June 10, 1856 in Clay County, Illinois, at 56 years of age.(129) Her body was interred after June 10, 1856 in Golden Cemetery,Harter Twp.,Clay Co.,IL., Golden Cemetery.(130)

He was christened in Driesback's Luthern Church.(131) Jacob's occupation: Farmer in OH>IN>IL. Jacob also was a Mason in Indiana, and did some blacksmithing.

Jacob was listed as the head of a family on the 1820 Census in Madison Twp.,Butler Co.,Ohio.(132) He bought property in Decatur Co.,Indiana, March 8, 1828.(133) Jacob was listed as the head of a family on the 1850 Census in Decatur Co.,Indiana.(134) Jacob Anspach is found under several different spellings, it was Jacob Annisbaugh on his marriage license in Butler Co.,Ohio. Jacob died in 1859, James Mann was administrator of his estate. It took several years to complete payments and conclude the probate. There was no will. Michael & Moses do not appear in the receipts. But when Moses died, Michael stated that Moses had 20 acres inherited from "his father, Jacob Anspach". So I assume that both Moses and Michael had received their inheritance before Jacob died and did not need to be paid afterward. Peter was in California and his wife, Amilda, got his part. There were many pages of inventory and receipts for Jacob's estate. James Mann had to make at least 3 trips to Indiana to make payments to heirs that were living there. Jacob and Elloner took in many wards over the years. Jacob was appointed guardian for Solomon & Margaret Reed Leffler's orphaned children - Salome, Sarah, Michael, and Solomon. Part of the records for this court appointed guardianship comes from Probate Record Book C, Decatur Co.,IN. p.213. Solomon Lefler & Sarah Lefler, minor heirs of Solomon Lefler deceased of Butler Co.,Ohio, came in court Feb.9,1836 and chose Jacob Anspach as their guardian. Later in the entry, the minors were listed as Solomon & Michael. Jacob Thomas was security for the guardian, Jacob Anspach, who stated no money had come to him as guardian. He asked to be discharged as guardian of the Leffler children on Nov.23, 1840, since they were of age. In the Probate Order Book F, page 25, dated Dec.1,1846 - Margaret, Alexander and Thomas Chambers, minor heirs of William Chambers dec., choose Jacob Anspach to be their guardian. A later entry on p.259 states John (Chambers?) was discharged as guardian and Jacob Anspach appointed to suceed him with Thomas Deem as his security. Other entries include Probate Order Book B: p.491, Feb.9, 1836 - about Jacob's appointment as guardian of Solomon & Sarah Leffler., p.513 Mar.3, 1836 Jacob Anspach adm. of estate Samuel Leffler, dec. Probate Order Book C, p.8, Nov. 14,1836 - Jacob Anspach adm. of estate of Samuel Leffler dec. * Catherine, Henry, Mary, Philip, Samuel Jr., Lydia, Abraham, Elizabeth, and John Leffler and Catherine the widow (all heirs). * non resident. Probate Order Book A, p.61, May 8,1837 -Jacob Anspach adm. of estate of Samuel Leffler dec. vs. Catherine, Henry, Mary, Philip, Samuel Jr., Lydia, Abraham, Elizabeth, and John Leffler (heirs) of Samuel and Catherine Leffler the Widow in Petition to sell real estate. Timothy Ridlen and Jacob Thomas securities. Probate Order Book D., p.387, Sep.14, 1843 - Catherine Thomas adm. of estate of Jacob Thomas dec. w/ Jacob Anspach & Timothy Ridlen her securities. Probate Order Book E: p.69, Nov. 26, 1844, Jacob Anspach was security for Richard Corwin as guardian of Corwin children. p.331, Dec.2, 1845, Thomas Deem adm. of estate of William Chambers dec. w/ Jacob Anspach his security. Widow Barbara gave up right to act & adm. p. 572, Sep.12, 1846, Jacob Anspach & Frederick Shuppert appraised John Corwin estate inventory. Probate Order Book F., p.369, Feb. 17, 1848 - Jacob Anspach adm. estate of James Hall dec. w/ Richard Ayers his security. Widow relinq. her right as adm. (This may refer to Jacob Anspach Jr., who was actually a cousin of the elder Jacob and lived nearby.) Obviously, Jacob was very active in the community. He was also a member of the Masons in Indiana, but I have no record of him joining in Illinois. Jacob, Elloner, and several family and related members are buried in Golden Cemetery, Harter Twp.,Clay Co.,IL., Harter Twp. ( S 2 of Sec. 5, T3N, R6E; 4 mi. N of Flora on US 45, 2 mi. child 167 viii. Elizabeth Anspach was born in Decatur Co.,Indiana 1835. Elizabeth died 1870 in Clay County, Illinois. Her body was interred 1870 in Golden Cem., Harter Twp., Clay Co., IL., Golden. She married John E. Ferguson in Clay County, Illinois, April 10, 1862.(151) John was born in KY 1843. He was the son of William Ferguson and Mary Unknown. John died after 1870. John was listed as the head of a family on the 1870 Census in Harter Twp.,Clay Co.,IL.(152) (See John E. Ferguson for the continuation of this line.)

Elizabeth was listed as the head of a family on the 1860 Census in Clay Co.,IL.(153) Either Elizabeth was recorded the wrong age in 1860, or her husband John Ferguson was very quick to remarry in 1870. She died in 1870 according to cemetery records - but there is an Elizabeth in John's household in 1870 aged 24. So she may actually have been born about 1846 and died after the census was taken in 1870. John Ferguson was living 3 doors away in 1860, in the household of Elizabeth's sister & brother-in-law (Samuel Miller). From the LDS - FERGERSON, John E. child 169 x. Moses Anspach(155) was born in Decatur Co.,Indiana 1841. Moses died January 4, 1863 in Gallatin,TN.. His body was interred January 4, 1863 in Gallatin,TN. Moses died in the Military Hospital in Gallatin,TN. according to his service records from the National Archives. He was in the hospital for the months of November & December 1862, and died January 4,1863. No mention of where he is buried, so I assume they buried him nearby.

Moses was listed as the head of a family on the 1860 Census in T3N,R5E, P.O. Xenia,Illinois.(156) Moses served in the military in Civil War, 98th IL.Inf. from Ingraham,Clay Co.,IL., September 3, 1862. Michael Anspach was the executor of Moses estate. Moses Anspach's Civil War record is under Moses ANSPACH, but is under ANSCHACH on the IL Civil War search webpage. The 98th IL. Infantry was a mounted infantry. It was organized in Centralia,IL. & mustered in Sep.3,1862. See Dyer's Regimental History / Adjutant General's Report. Dyer's History includes dead, wounded, and ill soldiers: the 98th had 30 enlisted men and 5 officers killed & mortally wounded, 136 enlisted men lost do to disease. It seems that Moses was one of the ones lost to disease. Moses enlisted August 5,1862 in Flora,IL. Died in the hospital in Gallatin,TN. I have not found a marked grave for Moses Anspach. I have found no record of the body having been sent back to Clay County, Illinois. I assume he was buried somewhere near the hospital where he died.
