Probably the first child of Joseph and Mary Elizabeth born inAustralia as Australian birth records for other older siblings(Albert, Mary, Annie and one other male) cannot be found.
Ruby in her letter of 9-MAR-1934 indicated that Arthur was not workingat this time.

Pa and his family celebrated his birthday on the 10 Oct (which is nowknow to be 25 Sep).
The informant of the birth was Mary Elizabeth BREADBEER nee YOUNG (themother) from Narara. She was 34 years old at the time and confirmedshe came from Bristol, England. The certificate also shows that Marywas not able to write as there is a simple "X" where her signatureshould has appeared. This stroke carries the annotation "her mark"and it is placed between the words "Elizabeth Young" which are writtenin the hand of the person who completed the registration (MrHastings).
Arthur's birth certificate also informs us that Mary Elizabeth andJoseph had the following children:
Living: 2 males and 2 females
Dead: 1 male and 1 female
which are likely to have been born in England.
It would appear that there was no registered medical doctor inattendance (as the first witness was registered as "none") but rathera nurse or mid-wife by the name of Mrs Pateman..

The marriage was performed by John Costello, a priest in the Church ofEngland. The witnesses were John Stephen ALLEN (father of the brideand whos name seems to be Stephen John as opposed to the reverse whichwas used several times on the marriage certificate) and William YOUNG,Pa's younger brother.
Arthur was a bachelor, 24 years old and gave his occupation as ateamster of Ourimbah. His birthplace was Narara, NSW; father JosephYOUNG a farmer and his mother Elizabeth BREADBRE [BREADBEER].
Throughout the certificate the brides name was originally written asLizzie Paxton ALLEN but later Lizzie was crossed out and replaced withElizabeth. She was a 16 year old spinster from Ourimbah who performed"home duties". Due to her young age, her father signed his consent forthe marriage. Lizzie's birth place was recorded as Sydney, her fatherwas a labourer and her mother was Ada CAMPBELL.
