A t the end of thistime he purchased a quarry. He carried o n a large contractingbusiness and had been foremost in al l movements calculated to advancethe interests of the impo rtant borough of which he had been Mayor. Hehad been ad Al derman for 10 years. He was the father of 3 sons and 4daug hters. Many years a director of the northumberland Buildin gSociety.
