18 April 1847 - Eliza YOUNG, single woman of South Brent gave birth toJane in Axbridge Workhouse (Ref D/G/AX 67/1).

Eliza would have named her child after her sister Jane who had died inthe Workhouse 2 years earlier.

[1763] The record reads:
28 June 1847 Jane YOUNG, Christening in Axbridge Workhouse, d/o ElizaYOUNG (Ref D/G/AX 68/1).

It also appears as though Eliza had Jane christened in the South BrentParish Church on the 26-Dec-1852. The parish records show that MaryJane, daughter of Eliza YOUNG (single woman of South Brent) wasbaptised 26-DEC-1852 at the age of 5yrs 8mths. From the AxbridgeWorkhouse birth record, Jane would have been 5yrs 8mths and 8 days andcertainly is the same child (South Brent Church Records 1679-1886, LDSFilm 1526376, Item 6 Baptisms 1842-1885, page 21, #166).

[1766] The baptismal record indicates Jane was 5 years and 8 months old whenshe was baptised in DEC-1852 which means she was born APR-1847. And ofcourse this matches the earlier Axbridge Union Workshouse records.Note that she was baptised Mary Jane and this is the second time shewas baptised.
