In 1920 Stephen John ALLEN gave Arthur YOUNG (Pa) a reference (dated17-NOV-1920) and he was living in Palmwoods, QLD. It indicates Pa hadworked for him for 22 months. So he was probably around Palmwoods forat least the period 1918-1920. He also signed the reference JohnAllen. This indicates that he was probably known as John ALLEN.
In his letter (3-JUN-1926), Stephen remarks that he can't go to workand can't do "anything heavy". He is about 62 years old but he wisheshe could go to work. He goes on to say the Coal Strike is still on andthe men are out over the 44 hour week. He also notes that its been 2years last February sincet he's seen Art and Lizzie.
In the death notice for Stephen John ALLEN it noted that when he diedin Dec-1926 he was the "eldest surviving son of Mrs Thomas ALLEN,Wollongong".
