Obit: "Centre Daily Times" : "Max A. Fishel, 84, of Centre Crest nursing home in Bellefonte, formerly of Spring Mills, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 1997, at the nursing home. He was born May 18, 1913, in Millbrook, College Township, a son of the late John and Della Houtz Fishel. He attended Centre Furnace and Lemont schools. He was in the Army during World War II, serving as a cook with the 600th Air Engineer Squadron, 7th Air Service Group. He was awarded the Army Occupation Medal for Service in Japan, the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon and a World War II Victory Ribbon. He worked at Penn State prior to his World War II service. Following his army discharge on Dec. 12, 1946, he was a maintenance worker at Penn State until his retirement. He belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars in State College, the American Legion in Millheim and the Gregg Township Fire Company. He enjoyed hunting. Vistiation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral Home, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Centre Hall. The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John W. Betlyon officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Pine Hall Cemetery in State College. Memorial contributions may be made to Gregg Township Fire Company, Spring Mills, Pa."
Obit: "Centre Democrat" of Thu. 3 May 1956: "Lloyd L. Houtz of State College RD, died at his home Wed., May 2, 1956 at 8:30 a.m. Born Aug. 7, 1880 in Lemont, he was the son of Jacob and Rebecca Garbrick Houtz. He married to Carrie O'Neill who survives with two sons: Nevin Houtz, Lemont, and James Houtz, Lewistown; and one daughter, Miss Nora Jane Houtz, State College. One half-sister, Mrs. Edward Graham, of Denver, Colorado and three grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held from the Koch Funeral Home Friday at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. John F. Harkings officiating. Interment will be in Centre County Memorial Park. Friends will be recieved at the funeral home this evening from 7 to 9 p.m."

Houtz, 103, of 152 Legion Lane, State College, died at Centre Crest Nursing Home, Bellefonte, Thursday (July 11, 1985) at 7:10 p.m. She was of the Wesleyan Faith. She was born in Martha, Jan. 1, 1882, a daughter of John Andrew and Nor Margaret Bennett O'Neil. She was married June 4, 1902, to Lloyd L. Houtz, who died May 2, 1956. Surviving are two sons: Nevin E. of Julian and James W. of Lewistown; a daughter, Nora Jane McDonald of State College; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at Koch Funeral Home, State College, Sunday at 2:30 p.m. with theRev. John E. Garver officiating. Burial will be at Centre County Memorial Park. Friends will be received at the funeral home Sunday from 1 p.m. until time of services. Memorial contributions may be made to Centre Crest Nursing Home, Bellefonte."
Her obituary in the "Democratic Watchman" of Fri. 16 Apr 1915 read: "Rishel.--Mrs. Emma May Rishel, wife of Alfred M. Rishel, died suddenly at the Bellefonte hospital at seven o'clock last Saturday evening. She was taken sick the Sunday night previous and it was several days before her illness could be diagnosed as an obstruction of the intestines. She was brought to the Bellefonte hospital on Saturday and operated on, but her death followed shortly afterwards. Deceased was a daughter of Peter and Sarah Shuey Schreck and was born at Lemont on March 10th, 1866, at her death being 49 years and 1 month old. She was married to Mr. Rishel on August 25th, 1887, and all their married life was spent on the Rishel farms in Benner and Spring townships. She was a member of the Methodist church and a lovable woman in every way. Surviving are her husband and two children, J. Walter and Sarah Emma, both at home. She also leaves two sisters and one brother, namely: Mrs. Ellen Ludwig of Ebensburg; Mrs. Sarah Moore of Philipsburg, and William Schreck of Lemont. Funeral services were held at her late home at two o'clock on Tuesday afternoon by Revs. E. H. Yocum and C. C. Shuey, after which burial was made in the Rishel lot in the Union cemetery in this place.
