King Philip Augustus II
Philip reigned as King of France for four decades and was the only son of Louis VII and his fourth wife Adele. During his long reign, Philip greatly solidified the power of the crown at the expense of the aristocratic elite and feudal lords and more than doubled the royal lands. "The Encyclopedia of the Middle Ages" Norman F. Cantor, General Editor.
He worked as a King Of France. Philip married Isabella Of Hainault, daughter of Count Baldwin Of Flanders and Margaret Of Flanders, in 1180. (Isabella Of Hainault was born after 1144 and died after 1144.) |
