Yeargain,
Yeargan, Yeargin and about any other spellings to come up with! It seems
we are all related. The more we research to find our roots, the more
people we run into with our surnames, the more "cousins" we seem
run in to. This site has been set up for us "cousins" to pool
our resources and present the information that we have.
We start with a family of ten brothers, Andrew, Samuel and Thomas are the names we have information on. In 1891, Leonidas Hillary Yeargan and Hillary H. L. Yeargan, M.D. compiled a book titled, The Origin And Genealogy Of The Yeargan Family As Far As Heard From Up To This Date, 1890, that is a wonderful history of our family. W. H. Smith updated that book in 1930. Up to now, seems no one can find to the original family homeland. If the Yeargan book, Andrew is listed as born in Wales. We can't find prove that by birth certificate, or immigration papers. We're hoping by having this site, that we will be able to make his final connections. The Yearg... family has a very rich history! From a scholastic to religion to sports, it seems a we've done it all! The last paragraph from the Yeargan book says it all: Characteristics of the Yeargan family Methodistic, by large majority. Prolificness, large families. Migratoriness, be found in many different states. Longevity, several deaths over 90. Gregariousness, brothers marrying in the same family in living groups. An exquisite sensitiveness, modesty, and pride. All they have to ask of Alexander, be: "to get out of their sunshine." Impatient to impracticability.
