Frank Thomas attended school first in Wyoming and then attended two years at the Clark Seminary in Aurora before attending one year at Northwestern University in Evanston IL and then then taught school for three terms before continueing his education at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor graduating with degrees of B.A. and B.L. He studied law under the preceptorship of Hon. T.M. Cooley L.L. D. He graduated from the University in 1871 and returned to Illinois.
He married Miss Anna Walsh of Ann Arbor Michigan on September 14, 1872. Frank and Anna bore two children, Harry who died at eight years and Katie who married A.R. Seewald a merchant of Terre Haute Indiana. Anna died on June 3, 1876 and Frank married again on April 12, 1882 to Miss Julia M. Hoover and they had two daughters together, Anna and Julia.
Mr. Thomas was admitted to the bar at Toulon in Sept. 1872 the same month and year of his first marriage after which he opened a law office in Wyoming and served as city attorney for about twenty years. He was later elevated to the bench.
