Distressing Fires.
Distressing fires.--The dwelling house of Mr. Jacobus Wynkoop, jr. of Rochester, in this county, was consumed by fire on the night of the 14th inst. with nearly all its contents. A child about 4 years old perished in the fire, & the ensuing evening Mrs. Wynkoop died of the injuries she received in effecting her escape from the flames. Mr. Wynkoop narrowly escaped. Not a particle of clothing was saved.

Richard Wynkoop, in the 1904 edition of the Wynkoop Genealogy in the United States of America, has this to say about Jacobus Wynkoop on page 213:
1810. Jacobus Wynkoop and Catharine Besemire had a child: This article is the first mention I've found that Jacobus was married more than once. Jacobus, (also known as James Jacobus Wynkoop, Jr.), is the son of 528. Jacobus Wynkoop, (Jacobus 303, Cornelius 114, Jacobus 29, Evert 4, Cornelius 1,) and Tryntje Schoonmaker. I'd like to thank Myron Noonkester of the School of Arts, Humanities, and Sciences, William Carey University, Hattiesburg, Mississippi for making a copy of this article available to me. Myron, I'm more grateful than I can say. Many, many thanks for your patience and generosity. All my best, Chris.
