REV. GODBEY

Rev. Luther C. Godbey died Thursday at Maysville Extended Care Facility. He was 92 and a resident of 403 Kemper Lane in Maysville.
Rev. Godbey served as a Methodist minister for 31 years and held the second longest term in the Kentucky Conference. He was educated at Union College and Emory University.
A native Bethel Ridge, Rev. Godbey was born March 12, 1892, a son of the late Rev. Logan R. Godbey and Emily Ashley Godbey. He had two brothers, both deceased, who were also ministers. He was married to the former Lelia Teager, who died in 1969. He was preceded in death by a son Warren Clark Godbey.
Rev. Godbey served Methodist churches in Riley Station, Tollesboro, Wallingford, Greenup, Germantown, Moorefield, Burgin, Mt. Olivet, Hillsboro, Sardis, Vanceburg, Cynthiana and Lucasville and Sciotoville in Ohio.
Surviving are three daughters, 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Knox and Brothers Funeral Home with the Rev. Steven Bowling officiating.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday.
