Herman Stafford Rites Held Monday Afternoon Funeral services for Herman Hasset Stafford, 72, were held at the Brush Creek Christian Church on Monday afternoon of this week. The Rev. L.C. Young officiated. Death came to Mr. Stafford on Saturday morning at the Casey Hospital. He had been seriously ill for the last two years and was in and out of the hospital many times. He suffered a heart condition. He was born October 5, 1888 in Franklin County, the son of Newt and Lucy Gains Stafford. He came to what is now Wilson Ridge when he was five years old. He was married to Mattie Zachary on May 22, 1910. She died October 27, 1951. They became the parents of eight children, six of whom survive. He is survived by a brother and a sister. There were five brothers and two sisters in the original family. There are 13 grandchildren. He worked for over 20 years with the State Highway Department on the county road crew. The remainder of the time he farmed. He retired in 1946 following a change of administration. Interment was in the church cemetery. Bartle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. |
