  The Descendants of John Godbey
I grew up with the knoweldge that I was related to most of central Kentucky :)

A good example of that is the Godby/Godbey family. My Father was a direct descendant of Gabriel Godbey from Casey County, Kentucky and my Mother's sister married a Godbey, who just happened to be a cousin of my dad's. So all my life I knew I was not only a niece but also a cousin to my Uncle.

I had to think hard on how I was going to list the Godby/Godbey family outline. I'm not going to be able to put the whole outline on one page. There are eleven generations that I can put online, and that is stopping with the births from the beginning of the 1900's. There are at least three more generations that can be listed after that, but to protect the privacy of family members, I didn't include them.

Therefore, the Godby/Godbey family outline, is going to be split into three different outlines. In the first outline I've taken the descendants down to William and John Godbey, then they will each have their own page with their specific descendants.

The majority of the information included in the three Godbey outlines came from two different people. A few years ago I was given a large packet of information on the Godbey's by a researcher, and I'm sorry to say, right now, I don't even have her name, but when I find it, I will post it here.

The other researcher is Margaret Braun (email address - maggielou@columbus.rr.com). Margaret's family and mine lived near each other in Casey County, KY and then in Lincoln County, KY. We're cousins thro the Godbey's and the Jones's and she and I have made a lot of important discoveries about our families. We're thrilled to have found each after so many years!

Some of the Godbey information came from my family and personal knoweldge, there are a lot of postcards and a few letters on this website relating to the Godbey family, that were in my family's personal papers. After I posted them on my webpages last year,  I was contacted by both Margaret and Brenda Houston - email address gage01@pldi.net. Amazingly enough Margaret and Brenda emailed me within a week of each other, neither one knowing of the other. There is a letter on this web site, it was written by George William Godbey in Missouri, Brenda's g,g grandfather, to EJ Godbey in Lincoln County, KY, Margaret's g, grandfather. Both ladies have sent me a pile of information that I've barely started to retype. As soon as I get the information  online, I will let everyone know. If you would like to be contacted when I update these pages please email me at WVMystica@aol.com.
