The
Past, The Present, The Future, A Tribute To Families Everywhere |
Welcome to my home away from home, my family and I welcome you :) My wonderful husband David and I are working on our family trees in hopes that we can share with others what we have learned. It's our belief that in order to have a complete and rounded future, we must know, accept and pass on what we can about our past. The greatest insult we can give to our ancestors is to forget them. Some of the information here is proven and documented, some of it is not. All of the families here should be considered as works in progress. There are a lot of people working on these families, I started collecting information long before I started this website, almost thirty years ago. I intend to list as many of the contacts I've made as possible, all the wonderful people who have shared information as well as who they are researching and how you can reach them. This may take me a little while, but I will get them online as quickly as possible. Meanwhile, I want to thank everyone who has sent information or shared with me, I will do what I can to help. Some of the outlines here are not completely proven yet, most have parts that are proven and parts that are not. This can change with one email, so please check back often. I have a private email list that I try to keep updated as to what is going on here, if you'd like me to add your name, please email me at WVMystica@aol.com. I am a big believer in documentation and will post that documentation here when ever possible, if anyone would like anything added, please contact me. If someone were to ask me what I like least about genealogy I'd have to say, spending time doing research on someone, only to find that someone else had already researched them. My main goal with this website is to help others find information that may help them so that doesn't happen, but please remember to figure in the human error factor, now and from the past. David and I will never be offended if someone asks for sources and as long as space is available, we will never reject documentation when presented, and welcome any contributations. We have four teenage children who don't always understand what we see in "old cemeteries" and "smelly, boring courthouses" but they have each inherited a bit of our love for history. One loves reading about WWII and when he graduates next year, plans to join the US Navy, continuing generations of loyal service. Two love building and carpentery, having inherited their maternal grandfathers natural talent for construction and carpentry, one has recently discovered an interest in the civil war, the other is an extremly talented young artist. Our oldest daughter shows promise of developing an interest in photography. My husband and I grew up in two different parts of the country, myself in Northern Indiana, with my roots deeply planted in Kentucky and Virginia, my husband grew up in North East Philadelphia with his roots going back to the Ukraine. So between the two of us we have many challenges in front of us. Both old world and new world experience will be needed and we both willingly admit to being inexperienced. It's been a slow and not always steady task of the heart, but I've finally gotten some family outlines and transcribed documents uploaded. I've done my best to make them as accurate as possible, but there are sure to be errors, misspellings and mistakes. In some cases there may also be conflicting information available. I've done my best to list the most current and correct information available at this time, however if you see anything that you know is incorrect, PLEASE email me and I will do my best to fix the mistakes. I will at times be slow at fixing errors, and won't be able to upload as often as I like, in addition to a full time family, David and I both work full time jobs, so at times we get behind. I want to thank everyone who has helped us with these families and sent information. It takes hundreds of people to make a family over generations of time and hundreds of people to compile it over generations of time. Past and present, we thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. I'll do my best to answer email and make updates as soon as possible but please be patient, I don't always move as fast as others would like me too :). Last but not least, have a wonderful day! :) * Added Note - There a few documents that have been listed more than once because they involve more than one surname listed, or more than one county. The multiple listings are marked with an * and matching numbers. UPDATE All marriages have been moved to the "Marriages of the Past" page, all family outlines have been moved to the "Families of the Past" page and all pension files have been moved to "Soldiers of the Past" page. I apologize for any problems this may cause but for efficiencies sake it had to be done, I had to much information on here, it was taking forever to load :) |
