This is the correct record of the first marriage (source is listed below) of Aden
J. Rigney. Amanda Smith Rigney was b. December 04, 1844 in Pulaski Co., KY she
died bet. November 22, 1870 - December 16, 1872 in Longton, Howard Co.,Kansas.
There is a copy of a memorial card included in the Civil War Pension File of Aden
J. Rigney with one date on it, but there is also a statement made by Aden J.
Rigney in the same file that gives another date. These are the only two documents
I have found with the date of her death on them. A researcher in Kansas checked
the cemetery in Longton for her headstone, but couldn't find one. Aden's second wife was Mary E. Stephenson, there are records that are incorrect regarding his marriage, in some records he is listed as being married once to Mary Smith. Mary was born July 18, 1849 in Stanford, Lincoln Co., KY, she died Oct. 26, 1933, they are buried side by side in Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford, Lincoln Co., KY, there are pictures of their headstones on this website.
