William Halsey of Eldersfield, husbandman

This is the last Will and testament of me William Halsey
of the parish of Eldersfield in the County of Worcester husbandman
first I direct all my just debts funeral and testamentary expences to be
paid and discharged by my Executor hereinafter named I give and devise unto
my daughter Ann Halsey her heirs and assigns forever the whole of
the land which I purchased of William Jeffes situate lying and being
in a certain field in Eldersfield aforesaid called Awfield part whereof
is now inclosed together with such fencing whether hurdles or otherwise
as shall be standing thereon at the time of my decease I give and devise
unto Mary Fowler of Eldersfield aforesaid Singlewoman daughter of
the late Samuel Fowler of Eldersfield aforesaid deceased the messuage
or Tenement orchard and all other the premises which I purchased of Thomas
Hayward and Edward Hayward and situate in the parish of Eldersfield
aforesaid to hold to her and her assigns for and during the term of her
natural life provided she shall remain single and unmarried and from and
immediately her decease or marriage which shall first happen I give and
devise the same Cottage or Tenement orchard and premises unto James Fowler
and Maria Fowler reputed natural children of the said
Mary Fowler their heirs and assigns forever as joint tenants
and not as tenants in common and if either of them die in my lifetime I
give and devise the same premises unto the survivor his her or their heirs
and assigns for ever but in case the said James Fowler and Maria
Fowler should both die before they attain the age of twenty one years
and whether in my lifetime or after my decease then I give and devise the
same premises to George Fowler William Fowler and Hannah Fowler
other reputed natural children of the said Mary Fowler or such
of them as shall be then living their heirs and assigns forever if more
than one as joint tenants and not as tenants in common but if only one then
living then the whole to such one his or her heirs and assigns I also give
unto the said Mary Fowler for and during the term of her natural
life the interest of the one hundred and fifty pounds secured to me on mortgage
of a messuage and land in Eldersfield aforesaid belonging to Joseph Bevan
and subject thereto I give the said sum of one hundred and fifty
pounds to the said George Fowler William Fowler and Hannah Fowler
their executors administrators and assigns as joint tenants and
not as tenants in common but if any or either of them die in my lifetime
I give and bequeath the said sum of one hundred and fifty pounds subject
as aforesaid to the survivors or survivor of them their his or her executors
administrators and assigns and my will and meaning is and I do hereby direct
that that the said Mary Fowler shall be entitled to all the arrears
or rent that may be due and owing to me at the time of my decease for the
said Cottage or tenement and to the Crop of the said orchard the possession
of which I now hold and also to all arrears of interest on the aforesaid
one hundred and fifty pounds that may be due to me at the time of my decease
and all the rest and residue of my real and personal estate of what nature
and kind soever and wheresoever situate or being I give devise and bequeath
the same unto my son Thomas Halsey his heirs executors administrators
and assigns forever subject nevertheless to and charged and chargeable with
the payment of the following annuities and legacies vizt

Whereas by my last Will and Testament hereto annexed bearing date the twenty seventh day of June one thousand eight hundred and ten I have given to my daughter Ann Halsey her heirs and assigns forever the whole of the land which I purchased of William Jeffes situate lying and being in a certain field in Eldersfield called Awfield which land since the date and execution of my said Will I have mortgaged to William Stephens of Tewkesbury in the County of Gloucester pattin wood maker for securing re payment of the sum of two hundred pounds and interest now I do hereby direct that the said sum of two hundred pounds and all interest due thereon at the time of my decease shall be paid and discharged out of my personal estate by my Executors hereinafter named and my Will and meaning being that my said daughter Ann Halsey shall have the same field and discharged from payment of the said sum of two hundred pounds and the interest that shall be due thereon I also give to my said daughter Ann Halsey the bed she now sleeps on with the bedstead bolster blankets sheets and Counterpane thereto belonging I give and bequeath unto James Fowler and Maria Fowler should in addition to what I have already given them by my said will the sum of fifty pounds sterling each and I direct my Executors hereinafter named to pay the same within the space of twelve calendar months next after my decease I appoint my son Thomas Halsey residuary Legatee of my said will and my brother Bartholomew Halsey and my son Thomas Halsey joint Executors thereof hereby revoking the appointment of my said son Thomas Halsey as sole Executor thereof in all other respects I confirm my said Will In Witness whereof I have to this writing which I intend as a Codicil to my last Will and Testament set my hand and seal this twelfth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifteen Wm Halsey Signed sealed published and declared by the said William Halsey the Testator as and for a Codicil to his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as Witnesses thereto James Peace– Edmond Attwood – John Brotheridge

Proved at London with a Codicil 23rd November 1825 before the Judges by the oath of Bartholomew Halsey the brother and Thomas Halsey the son the Executors to whom Admon was granted having been first sworn by comon duly to Admr.
