William Cooke of Eldersfield als Elsfield, husbandman

 

The last Will and Testament of William Cooke of Eldersfield als Elsfield in the Countie of Worcester husbandman taken the xxvjth day of December Anno salutis 1613.

 

In the name of God Amen I William Cooke of the parish of Eldersfield aforesaid in the tyme of my heath and strength (to avoid the trouble thereof in tyme of sickness when it shall please God to visite me therewth) doe make and ordayne my last will and Testament in manner and forme followinge, viz First I give my soule into the hand of God the father whoe made me to Xpt his sonne who redeemed me and to God the holie Ghoast wtch fourtifieth me. Item I give and dispose my worldlie estate ad followeth. In primis to the parish Church of Eldersfield xs, And to the poore of the same parish xs, both wch my will I shalbe soe bestowed and disposed of as shall seeme best to the discretion of my Overseers and them onlie, Item I give and bequeath unto Agnes my wyfe the use and occupacon onlie of the two beeds she brought me by marriage wth hir wth the appurtenances unto them belonginge The sheetes brasse and pewter that was her owne before I married her And after her decease I give and bequeath the before mentioned beeds sheetes and brasse and pewter to Margery my daughter. And my will is that yf Agnes my wyfe shalbe contented to yield up unto my daughter the thirdes of my free land in Corse that then I would wish that all the before bequeathed beeds sheets and brasse and pewter should be wholie given to my wife as her owne property. Item I give and bequeath to the aforesaid Margery Cooke my daughter all my free land in the parish of Corse in the Countie of Glouc withal the deedes writings and conveyannces that concerne the same wth all the proffitts Comodities buildings houses or whatsoever belonging or apperteyning thereunto and to the heires of hir body lawfully begotten for ever. And for want of such heires of her bodie to Francis Cooke my God sonne the naturall sonne of John Cooke of the Hawthornes my brother and to his heires for ever. Item I give and bequeath to Agnes my wyfe half the wood that shall happen to be in my backside or Courte when I shall dye. All the rest of my goods Cattles and Chattles to that formerly bestowed on hr I give and bequeath to Margery Cooke my daughter whome I make my sole Executrix of this my last will and Testament. And I doe appoint Mr Jerard Prior our Minister And William Cooke the sonne of Florice Cooke my brother myne Overseers and doe give them for their paynes iijs iiijd to each of them. In wittness whereof I have put my hand and seale the day and yeare first above written Willm Cooke his marke and seale, witnesses Jerard Prior Clerus Florice Cooke his marke.
