William Cooke of Corsse, husbandman

 

In dei nomine amen the thirteenithe daye of August in the fower and thirtithe yere of the Raigne of oure soveraigne  Ladie Elizabethe the Quenes Maiestie that nowe ys Anno Domini a thousand gyve hundred nynetie one I William Cooke of Corsse in the countie and Dioces of Gloucester husbandman being sicke in bodie but yet in perfect memorye (praysed be god therefore) do make and ordeyne this my present testamt conteyninge herein my last will in manner and forme as followethe. First I commend my soule to Allmightie god my maker and redeemer by whose deathe and passion I hope and trust only to be saved And my bodie to the earthe from whence yt was taken and to be buryed accordinge to the discrcion of myne executors hereafter named. Item I give and bequeath unto Richard Cooke my sonne all my landes wheresoever to have and to hould to hym and to his heires for ever to the only use profit and behoofe of him the saied Richard Cooke and his heires for ever. Item I give and bequeathe unto my fower children viz: Thomas Robert Anne and Elizabethe tenne poundes a peece the whiche somme shalbe paied in this manner and forme viz: Richard Cooke my said sonne shall paye out of my free lande thirteen pounds Sixe shillinges eight pence and the other twentie sixe poundes thirteene shillinges fower pence shalbe paied by Elizabeth my wife and Richard Cooke my saied sonne out of my goodes and cattell. Item I will bequeathe and appoynte my saied sonnes Thomas and Robert shalbe paied theire porcon in this manner viz: Sixe poundes a peece within the first yere after my decease and the other Five poundes a peece to be paied within the second yere after my decease. Allso I will and appoynte that my saied daughters Anne and Elizabethe shalbe paied theire porcon in this manner viz: Fyve poundes a peece to be paied unto them within the thirde yere after my decease and the other Fyve poundes a peece to be paied unto them within the fourthe yere after my decease. Item I give and bequeathe unto Johane my daughter Fortie shillings Item I give and bequeathe unto William Cooke the sonne of the said Richard Cooke my yron bounde corne weyne and my woollen dunge weyne and one ploughe and one share and one Cultiron: my saied sonne Richard to have the use of them duringe his life leaving them in sufficint order and reparacons as nowe yt is. Item I give and bequeathe unto the pore Inhabitaints of this parishe Sixe shillinges eight pence to be distributed by John Cooke of the Woodrowe and James Cooke of the Churche. All the rest of my goodes moveable and unmoveable unbequeathed I give and bequeathe unto Elizabeth my wife and Richard Cooke my saied sonne whome I make my sole and only executors to see this my last will performed as maye be to the wealthe of myne owne sowle: myne overseers I do ordeyne Thomas Neaste and Florice Cooke to whome I give three shillinges fower pence betwixt them to see those thinges performed according to my true meaninge. Witnesse to the same Florice Cooke Richard Cooke and Florice Childe clerke.
