In the name of god Amen. April the 15th 1613. I Thomas Blizard thelder of Laverton
in the Parish of Buckland in the countie of
Gloucr husbandman beinge weake &
feeble in bodie, But whole and sound in my remembrance
(praysed be god) doe make and ordaine this my last will and testamt in Manner &
forme followinge. first I comend my soul into
the hands of my god and redeemer Jesus Christ through whos grace and by his
passion I hope to be made partaker of eternal
life in the heavens. And my body I will to be buried & interred in the
Church yarde of Buckland abovesayd. Secondly
concerninge my temporall goods and Cattells lent me of the Lord I dispose of them thus. Imprimis to the repayringe of
the Church waies of Buckland I do bequeath and geve xijd. I do give to each
poore parishioner of Buckland and Laverton (yt
hath not corne growinge of their owne) one peck ---------
hoope of Manckcorne or Masteene. Item I do give and bequeath to
each one of my Childrens children one --------.
Itm I do give and bequeath to William Blizard my brother, in monie xxs. I give unto Thomas Howton my daughters
sonne fortie shillings. Item I do give and bequeath unto Anne Howton
my daughter now wief of Thomas Howton of
Stannton in silver fowre pounds, togeather with all such goods and Cattels as
erst heretofore I ----- sould lent and
delivered unto her selfe & her husband, so that hereafter no man shall
demand of her ------- anie such debts or dues,
all wch I do by this my will utterley
disclaime and forgive in lieu of her pl--- & ----.
Item I do give unto Gyles Blizard my sonne my bigger brasse pott and
the redd heyfer at Childswickam[?]. I do forgive him all such debts &
dues as he oweth unto mee. Item I do give & bequeath unto John Blizard
my sonne fortie pounds of good and lawfull
monie of England which I willand my Mynd ys yt
James Bowrie my sonne in law shall pay unto
him accordinge to the times prefixed unto my selfe by his sealed handwriting
that is to say Eleaven pounds at Allhallowtide next, and ten pounds that daie
twelve months after. My sonne Edmond Blizard shall pay unto my
aforesaid sonne John Blizard at Allhallowtide next ensuinge my debt of xj pounds and that day twelve months after
Ten pounds of good and lawfull monie of England, at my -------- mansion howse in Laverton aforesaid
togeather with my best bedsteed with my best furniture to the same belonginge
and also my second Caldron with three platters (the three first --- beinge
otherwise bequeathed) my best brason Candlesticke. Itm I will that the
Chilver sheepe bequeathed formerly to my Childrens Children be delivered unto
them sevrally by my Executour wthin one moneth after my decease And that myne
executour bestow & imploy the Forty shillings that I have before
bequeathed unto Thomas Howton my daughtrs
sonne to his best benefitt and emolument in placinge him to some good trade
and occupation wth
some honest artificer or
tradsman whereby to get his livinge another daie in the fear of god at the
discreton & disposicion of his uncles Giles Blizard Thomas Blizard and
James Bowrie my sonns alltogeather consultinge his best prfermt
wth myne executour himself. Itm I
will that if anie of my Chyldren above named shall dye and departe this life
before the daie perfixed of deliveringe thes my severall bequests that the
remayninge bequests undelivered them shalbe equally divided amonge the
survivours by equall distribution . Item I give unto Susan Blizard wife
of Thoms Blizard my eldest sonne the utinge[?] Seston standinge
in the Malt howse to be delivered wthin
one yeare after my decease together wth the
Malt Mill to be delivered wthin
the time aforesaid. Moreover I do make constitute and ordains my sonn Edmond
Blizard sole executour of this my last will and testament, to see my
debts payd, and funerall expenses dischardged, to whom I give the rest of all
my goods corne Cattells and debts whatsoever, hopinge he will faythefully
performe my will accordinge to the confidence I have reposed in --- that he
may the better accomplishe, I
