Thomas Atwell als Welles of the Ligh, husbandman

 

In the name of god amen. the 14th day of October anno dom: 1609.  anno regni doni: nostri Jacobi, dei gratia Anglić, Scotić, Francić et Hibernić regis, vid. Anglić, Francić, et Hibernić septimo, Scotić 43th. I Thomas Atwell alias Welles of Evington in the parrishe of the Ligh in the Countie of Glocester husbandman, although sicke in body yet of perfite memorie thankes be given unto god, doe make and ordaine this my last will and testament in forme and manner as followeth. Inprimis I commende my soule into the handes of allmightie god my creator and redeemer hopinge to be saved by no other meanes than by the merites of Christes death and passion, and my body unto the earthe from whence it came to be buried in the churche yearde of the Ligh and as for the distribution of my temporall goodes. First I give and bequeath unto the poore of the parrishe eight busshels of barly to by distributed amounge them within one monthe after my decease.  Item I give unto Thomas Jeynes, and unto Daniel Davis unto eache of them – vs. Item I give unto my wife Anne Atwell alias Welles, and unto Thomas Smith my daughters sonne the deades yeare of my coppie hold wherein I now dewele after my desease the one moietie unto the one, and the other moietie unto the other. Moreover I give and bequeath unto my wife Anne Atwell alias Welles, and unto Thomas Smith all the rest of my goodes not given nor bequeathed, my dettes legacies and funerals discharged makinge the executors of this my last will and testament. provided allwayes that albeit I have made Thomas Smith halfe executor with his grandemother, yet my will is, that by vetewe hereof he shall enioye no  parte of my goodes so longe as my wife shall live. Moreover I appointe Edmonde Smith, and Richard Taylor my overseers, requiringe them to see this my last will and testament perfourmed, and to eache of them I give for theire paines 3s 4d
