In dei nomine amen. The fowerth daie
of August in the yere of or Lord
god 1581. I Steven Cooke of Eldersfielde in the countie of Worcester
yeoman beinge sicke in bodye (but thankes be unto allmightie god) of good
and perfecte remembrannce (praised be god) doe make and ordeyne this my
last will and testamente in manner and forme followinge First I bequeathe
my soule to allmightie god, my maker and redeemer, And my bodye to be buried
in the prishe churche yarde of Eldersfield, aforesaide, accordinge to the
discrecion of myne executors, hereafter named or els ordeyned. Item my
will is that all manner of bordes that be, nailed or pynned, benches and
wainescotte shall remaine unto the heyre as theie are nowe without any
descructianne. Item I geve and bequeathe unto John Cooke my sonne
fortie shillings. Item I geve and bequeathe unto William Cooke my
sonne fortie shillings. Item I geve & bequethe to unto Floris Cooke
my sonne sixe poundes thirteene shillings fower pence. Item I geve and
bequeathe unto Johan Baston my daughter fortie shillings. Item I
geve and bequeathe unto Joan Jackman my daughter tewntie shillings.
Item I geve and bequeathe unto Perrin Cooke my daughter sixe poundes
thirteen shillings fower pence. Item I geve and bequeathe unto the poore
of the prishe of Eldersfielde five shillings to be distributed accordinge
to the discretion of my overseers hereafter named. Item I geve and bequeathe
to Sr Richard
