In the name of god amen. anno dom: 1611. The 10. of October in the yeare of the rainge of owre Soverainge Lord James by the grace of god of Englande, France and Irelande defender of the faith etc. vid: of Englande, France and Irelande the ninthe, and of Scotlande 45. I Robert Butt of the Leigh in the countie of Glocester husbandman, although sicke in body, yet of prfect memorie thankes be given unto god for it, doe ordaine and constitute this my last will and testament in fourme and manner as followeth. first I commende my soule into the handes of allmightie god my creator and redeemer hopinge to be saved by noe other meenes then by the merrites of Christe his death and passion, an my body unto the earth to be buried in the churche yearde of the Leigh. and as for the distribution of my temporall goodes. First I give and bequeath unto the poore of the parrishe ten shillings to be bestowed on them --- after my desease. Item I give unto my dawghters sonne John Davis 3l to be paid unto him within 2 years after my deseas. The like summe I give unto my sonnes sonne John Butt to be paied unto him at he same time. Item I give and bequeath unto my sonne in lawe John Davis and unto Joane his wife for terme of theire lives and the longest live of them the howse which I now lie erected for them by William Miltons and the grounde thereto belonginge from the partition next the close, unto the high waye, containinge by estimation tenn lugge[?] or there aboute be it more or lesse, yeeldinge and paieinge therefore for it yearly, dureinge the term graunted them unto my heire one --- corne. Item I give unto my dawghter Joane Davis 30l to be paied unto her within one yeare and an halfe after my desease. The rest of my goodes mot given nor bequethen my legacies and funerals discharged I give unto my sonne John Butt makinge him my executoure of this my last will and testament. also I ordaine and appointe Thomas Butt and Thomas Brodwell to be my overseers, and for theire paynes takinge I give unto eache of them vis viijd.
