Richard Dowle of Derehurste Walton, husbandman

 

In the name of God Amen 1587 / In the fifteen daye of June and in the nine and twentith yeare of the Reigne of our Soveraigne Ladye Elizabeth by the grace of god of England Frannce and Ireland Quene defender of the Faithe etc. That I Richard Dowle of Derehurste Walton in the County of Glouc husbandman being whole in minde and in good memorye Lawded be given to god doe make and ordayne this my present testament conteyning therein my Last will in manner and forme that followeth / First I bequeathe and commit my sowle to Almighty god and to all the holye companye of heaven And my bodye to be buryed in the parrishe churchyarde of Derehurst / First and formost I doe give and bequeathe to the poore people of the parrishe of Derehurst where is most neede in money forty shillings / Item I give and bequeathe the parrishe churche of Derehurst in money three shillings foure pence Item I give and bequeathe to the Curate of Derehurst in money  twoe shillings / Item I five and bequeathe to Edward James the Clarke of Derehurst in money twelve pence Item I give and bequeathe to Edmond Smith the sonne of Thomas Smith of Walton Cardif one brasse pott one Featherbedd one paire of blankets one paire of sheets a bolster and a pillowe / Item I give and bequeathe Anne Dowle daughter to Harrye Dowle one paire of sheets / Item I give and bequeathe to Walter Gyesse one flaxen sheete / Item I give and bequeathe to Margaret Bishopp daughter to Robert Bishopp one pott and one cubbard Item I give and bequeathe to Richard Bishoppe sonne to Robert Bishopp one Cawthorne And I doe give and bequeathe to Jedy Bishopp daughter to Robert Bishopp one Lilte cawthorne all whiche goods that I have request to Margaret Richard and Iedy Bishopp their Father have it in his keeping for them alreadye / Item I give and bequeathe to Margaret Roberts daughter to William Smith in money three shillings foure pence / Item I give and bequeathe to John Smith of Derehurst Walton one flockbedd one paire sheetes and one paire of blankets / I give and bequeathe to everyone of my godchildren within named twelve pence apeece / Item I doe appointe to be stowed for Refresshing to these honest men and women that goeth with my bodye to be buryed the some of forty shillings I doe make me whole executor of this my Last will and testament, my welbeloved in Christ Thomas Smith of Walton Cardif and all whiche goodes not given nor bequeathed I give it to my executor for to discharge this my Last will and testament / Debts owing unto me / Item Robert Bishopp oweth unto me three pounds And three pounds I paide unto Margaret Wiellis for the said Robert Bishopp when she was widowe the Late wyfe of William Smith deceased so the wholle some is six pounds John Heynes of Strenssam oweth unto me the some foure shillings / John Sowthrom of Strensam oweth unto me to some of fiftene shillings John Wynall of Apperley oweth unto me the some of five shillings / John Bickner of Haslar oweth unto me the some of three pounds Robert Reckerds of Tewkesbury oweth unto me the some of foure shillings All whiche debtes oweing unto me the some of th to be paide within one yeare after my decease / And also I doe putt trust my welbeloved in Christ to be my overseers of this my Last will and testament Thomas Wylis and Robert Bisshopp / And for theire paynes taking I doe give between the bothe the some of tenne shillings My Godchildren / Richard Houlder / Richard Nethwaye / Richard Poolle / Richard Giesse / Richard Bisshopp / Robert Child / John Byckner / John Grene / Elizabeth Hoope / Elizabeth Bisshopp / Elizabeth Coxe / John Home / Anne Welles / John Home / William Baude
