In the name of God Amen the Five & Twentyeth Day of August in ye third yeare of ye Reigne of or Sovereigne Lady Queene Anne over England &c Annoq. Domi 1704 I Katherine Newman of Oxenton in ye Countye of Gloucr Widow being not well in Body but of perfect memory praised be God do make & ordayne this my Last Will & Testamt in manner & forme following (That is to say) First I comitt my Soule into ye Hands of allmighty God my maker hoping through his mercy to receive free pardon & forgiveness for all my sins; And as for my Body to be decently Interred att the discretion of my Execr hereafter named Item I give devise and Bequeath unto my son Roger Newman the sume of one hundred Pounds of Lawfull money to have the Benefitt & advantage thereof during the terme of his naturall Life and after his Decease I give the sd one hundred Pounds to my son John Newman if He shall happen to Survive my sd Son Roger Newman, But in case of his Death before my sd Son Roger Newman I give devise and bequeath the same hundred Pounds to Mary Newman & Susannah Newman Daughters of my Sd Son John Newman and to Sarah Clare & Mary Clare Daughters of my Son in Law John Clare Twenty Pounds apiece & ye Remaining Twenty Pounds to John Newman ye younger Son of my Sd Son John Newman Item I give devise & bequeath unto my sd son Roger Newman my best Bedd & Boulster & two Pillows with ye Bedstead & furniture to ye same belonging Item my Will is that my son Roger Newman shall Continue & Live with my sd son John Newman during their Joynt Lives But that of my sonne Roger shall find any Just cause of Misliking then my Will is He shall have the Interest of ye Hundred pounds payd to him Quarterly during the Terme of his naturall Life only after ye Rate of Five Pounds p ann Item I do hereby oblige my Executor to pay the Sume of one Hundred Pounds to my Son in Law John Clare being the Hundred Pounds menconed in ye Articles upon ye marriage agreement with my Daughter Rebecca his now Wife att such tyme as He ye sd John Clare shall pforme the Covenants of ye sd Articles, And in ye mean time I do order my sd Executor to pay the Interest of ye same Money to my sd Daughter Rebecca and the issue of her Body after ye Rate of Five Pounds p cent p ann, But my Will is that my Son John Newman shall deduct the Sume of Eighteen Pounds & what Interest shall be in arreare to Mrs Townsend of Woodmacote to whom I now stands bound for ye sd John Clare if the sd John Clare do not pay & discharge the Same in ye mean time whereby my sd Executor may not be damnifyed out of ye sd one hundred Pounds mencioned in ye sd Articles, Item I give & bequeath to my Servant John Ireland the best Cow I have att ye time of my Decease; Item I give devise & bequeath unto my Daughter Rebecca all my wearing apparel both Linnen & Woolen to her own proper use & behoofe Item all ye Rest of my goods Chattles & Psonall Estate whatsoever unbequeathed I give devise & bequeath unto my sd Son John Newman upon Condicon He shall pay my Debts Legacyes & Funerall Expences, And make him Sole Executor of this my Last Will & Testamt hereby revoking and making voyd all former Wills & Testaments by me made In Witness whereof I have hereunto putt my hand & seale the Day & yeare first abovewritten (The mke of Catherine Newman) Signed Sealed Published & Declared In ye prsence of Daniell Younge The mark of Anthony Webbe Tho Watts
