John Greeninge of Deerehurst Walton, yeoman

 

In the name of God Amen. The second day of August Anno Dni 1644. Annoq Caroli vicesimo. I John Greeninge of Deerehurst Walton in the parish of Deerehurst & County of Glouc yeoman beinge somewhat weake in body, yet of an able & disposing memory: Thankes be unto God therefore. doe make & ordaine this my last Will & Testament in manner and forme followinge. First I comend my Soule into the hands of Almighty God my Maker, assuredly hopinge for salvation by him alone meritts of Jesus Christ my Redeemer. Any my body; I comend to the earth whence it was made verily beleeving in the Resureccon thereof at the last day. And as for my worldly goods wch the Lord of this mercy hath made me Steward over I dispose of them as followeth. Inprimis I give unto my beloved Wife Margaret my best bedstandinge, best featherbed and the best furniture of other beddinge therunto belonginge as Coverled Boulster pillow, two paire of the best sheets & two of the best pillow beares and the thirds of all other my houshold stuffe whether she shall hereafter marry any other man after my decease, or not. And if it shall please God she does not marry but continue widdow, then I give unto hir all my Estate as Executrix (exceptinge what prticulars I shall name in this my last will) as I shall hereafter more fully specifie. It I give to my sonne Richard Greeninge five pounds, And all the standards wch were left unto me about the house wth the Mustmill. It I give unto my sonne John Greeninge in money or moneys worth tenne pounds perswadinge myselfe that his mother will augment his porcon accordinge to her discretion. It I give unto Margaret Greeninge my Grandchilde twenty shillings. It I give to my sonne Richard Greeninge & to his heirs forever all my freehold land purchased by me of one Robert Greene It whereas I purchased one Chattell Lease of the Messuage I now live in one Mr Thomas Chettle[?] wch assignment I doe by this my Last Will & Testament, Assigne the said Lease first unto my Wife Margaret during hir widowhood; if my sonne Richard so longe live And if she shall marry againe or be marryd to any other man after my decease, then I assigne the remainder of the said Lease unto my sonne Richard Greeninge and his assignes duringe the life of hir the said Margaret so marryed againe as aforesaid, & the life of him the sayd Richard my sonne. It I give to my sonne John Greeninge the houshold goods that are due to me by the last will of William Greening my Nephew. And whereas I have given my kinsman Richard Greeninge halfe the benefite of the dead yeare of the livinge wherein the said William lived, I give the other halfe of the benefite of the said dead yeare of the livinge to be equally divided between my sonnes Richard & John Greeninge. All the rest of my Goods Cattells & Chattells in this my last will & Testament not given & bequeathed (my debts payd and funerall expences discharged) I give & bequeath to my beloved Wife Margaret Greeninge whom I make sole Executrix of this my last will & Testament. Provided that if she shall marry againe or be marryed to any other man after my decease then my will is that she shall have no more of my goods than what I have formerly named for hir in this my last will. And the rest of my Goods, Cattells & Chattells (shee so marrying as aforesaid) my will is that my said they shall equally be divided betweene my two sones Richard & John by equall porcons. I give unto my sister Milton one bushell of wheat & one bushell of barley. And I make & constitute my beloved friend Mr Huntington and my brother John Cooke overseers of this my last will & I give them three shillings a peice. In witnesse whereof I have hereunto put mine hand & seall the day & yeare first wthin written.
