John Greening, husbandman of Deerhurst Walton

 

In the name of god Amen 1578, the xth day of October I John Greening of Walton in the parish of Derehurst in the County of Gloucr husbandman, sick in body but of good and perfect memory thankes be to God, doe make and ordeyne this my last will and Testamt in manr and forme following, that is to say First I geve and bequeth my soule into the hands of allmighty god my maker and Redeemer, trusting to be saved by the merites and death of Jesus christ and my body I yeld to ye earth from whence it came, to be buryed in the churchyard of Derehurst aforesaid / And as touching the distribution of my wordly goodes First I geve and bequeth unto the poore mens boxe in Derehurst aforesaid iii[?]s vid Item I geve to Colytwn[?] Haven iiijd / Item I geve and bequeath to Isabell my wyff xxli upon condicion that she delyver to my eldest sonne Richard the bondes that he standeth bounde in wth me and for me for the payment of the sayd xxli wch xxli The foresayd bonde being delyvered I will that it be payd unto her wthin one month after my decease, as by the same bonde may appeare / Item I geve and bequeath to the forenamed Richard Greening my eldest sonne all my plowe tacke wholy as it is. / Item I geve unto John Darke one oxe calf / Item I geve unto Annis Darke one cowe to be delyvered unto her after my decease I geve unto her in money xxs to be payd unto her at ye age of fifteene yeares / All the rest of my goodes and cattells moveable and unmovable, not geven nor bequethed my detts, Legacyes and funerall expenses being discharged, I geve and bequeth unto my two sonnes, Thomas and John Greening whom I make my hole executors of this my last will and Testament / Also my desyre and earnest request is that Thomas Willis and Richard Greening my sonne, shall be my overseers to see this my last will and Testament well and truly executed and prformed and I geve unto eyther of them for theyr paynes taking herein xiid.
