John Green of Ashellworth, husbandman

 

In the name of god Amen the xxiijth day of September Ao Dni 1599, I John Greene of Ashellworth in the Countie of Gloucester husbandeman beinge of hole mynde & good and prfect Remembrance Thanks be unto god, But sicke in Bodie doe here make my Laste Will and Testament in maner, and forme followinge, First I Bequeath my sowle to allmightie god my maker and Redeamer & my bodie to the yerth to be buried in the Churchyarde of Ashellworth above saide. Item I gyve & bequeath to the Reparacons of the Church of Ashellworth twentie shillinges. Item I alsoe guve & bequeath to the pore people wthin the prishe of Maysemore other Twentie shillings Item I doe likewise gyve & bequeath to the poore people wthin the prishe of Hartburye other twentie shillings. Item I doe also gyve to the poore people of the prishe of Corsse other twentie shillings, to be pd by myne executor, Item I gyve likewise to the poor of the prishe of Hasfilde other twentie shillings, Item I doe also gyve and bequeath to the Reparacon of the Lighe Waie Betwixte the end of Longe sedge[?] and Monrotes Hill the some of Fyve pownds of lawfull money, to be Repayred & pd for the nexte somer aftr  my depture when when soevr it shall please god. Item I doe also gyve and bequeath to Margarett Fluck: the some of Fyve pownds to be paide to her At the daie of her maryadge. And if the said Margarett happen to die before she shalbe maryed then I gyve & bequeathe the same five pownds to the maridge of her other syster Margerye Fluck, and the same to be sett by myne executor & ovrseers, to theire best uses, As ther shall thinke good, And if they happen to die, before the shall Receve theire legasies, then I gyve & bequeathe the same money to the poore people of Ashellworthe to be devided Amongest them, By the Dyscrecon of myne exector & ovrseers, Alsoe I doe further gyve & bequeath, the some of Sixe pownds of Lawfull money of England to buye two kyne, to myne myne Executor, to and for the use & behowfe of the poore people of Ashellworth the same to Contenewe & be kepte yearlie one yeare aftr the other forever, Also I doe gyve and bequeath to Agnes Eldridge Weddowe, aftr my decease twentie shillinges to be pd by myne executor, I doe alsoe gyve and bequeath to Richard Eldridge her sonne other twentie shilling aftr my decease Item I alsoe gyve and bequeath to John Eldridge her other sonne other twentie shillings aftr my decease. Also I doe gyve and bequeath to the wedowe foresaid wedowe the some of twelve shillings, to be pd to her aftr my decease.  Allso I doe gyve to the Ringers At my Buriall to be pd to them fower shillings in money, and other fower shillings to pay for there victuells & drink, Item I doe also gyve to Thomas Eldridge whome I make myne executor of this my last will and testamt, the some of fortie fyve shilling for his paines, And alsoe I doe make & ordeine my ovrseer of this my laste will Willm Marshfilde als Gardner & doe gyve to him tenne shilling for his paynes In wittnes whereof I have Cawsed  this my --- Laste Will & testamt to bemade whereunto is sett my hande & seale Yeven[?] the daie & yere firste above written
