In the name of God Amen, the fyft day of June in the yeare of our Lord God 1618 I John Cooke of Dearehurste Walton in the diocese of Glouc husbandman beinge in good healthe and pfect memorie doe ordain and make this to be my last will and testament in manner and forme following first, I bequeath my soule into the hands of Almyghtie God my maker, Savioure and redeemr by whose death and passion and fayth in Christ Jesus I trust to be saved and my bodie to be honestly buried in the church or churchyard of Dearehurst aforesaid whensoever yt shall will, me at the election of myne Execr. Item As touching the bestowing of such landes, goodes, cattles, and chattelles as God hath endowed me wthall I doe devise, give, will and bequeath the same in manner and following: Imprimis I give and bequeath to John Cooke my sonne, the deades yeare of my Coppiehoulde in Apperley Item, my will is that my wiefe shall leave to my said onne John booth teem and cart to use his husbandrie wthall and all pales, postes, and railes, tabletts all horse and bestes standinge, all table boards, all frames for tables, all benches and all formes, maultmill and best beddsteed wth all furniture there unto belonginge / Item I give and bequeath to Ales my daughter fiftie[?] pounds of lawfull money of Engeland to be payd and delivred unto her the said Ales at the agge of twenty and one years or day of her marryage whichever one shall first happen Item I give and bequeath to the said Ales my daughter my second best beddsteede my second best bedd and all furniture there unto belonginge. Item, I give and bequeath to the poorest inhabbittings, in the psh of Dearehurste twentie shillings of lawful money of Engeland to be distributed by my ovrseers wh in one month after my decease / Item I give and bequeath toward the repayringe of the church of Dearehurste ten shillings of like money. The residue of all other my goodes, cattells, and chattells, not before given or bequeathed my debts and funerall expences payd and discharged I give to Jonne my loveinge wiefe who I make the sole execturix of this my last will and testament and I doe appoynt Overseer hereof my my welbwloved freinds Robert Cooke and John Greeneinge and doe gyve to each of them for his paines iijs iiijd and I do pray them most hartely to take yt upon them.
