Florice Cooke of Eldersfield, yeoman

 

In the Name of God Amen the fifth day of August in the yeare of our Lord One thousand six hundred eighty six I Florice Cooke of Eldersfield als Elsfield in the County of Worcester yeoman being in impfect if my former health as I have formerly enjoyed but of sound mind and pfect memory for which I humbly bless the God of my Fathers doe hereby make and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme as hereafter followeth first and above all other things I freely give committ and resigne my soule into the hands of Almighty God my Creator and the Gracious Donor thereof whose patience and long forbearance in mercy towards mee hath (to the praise of the most glorious name) been bountifully extended (hopeing assuredly through the alone meritts of Jesus Christ his only son in whom he hath declared to be well pleased and my only saviour) to be made psesser of eternall life and everlasting hapiness on the Kingdome of glory And as touching that temporall estate I have interest in I dispose thereof as followeth Imprimis I give unto my sonn William the residue of the Lease of the Land Barne the sheephouse and the Langet or hose in stock meadow and alsoe the residue of a peece of arable land which I alsoe hold by Lease lyeing in the little birth commonly called Eltone peece Item I give to my sonn William and his heirse forever my orchard or close of pasture in the parish of Corse called rodes otherwise namley Croft and that estate I hold by Lease of the Lord Coventry called Hastings after the death of my wife alsoe I give unto my sonn William the must mill and furniture all the tables which are at morend house and the pound barne togeather alsoe with the Joyne press of morend and the Joyne besteed and the table bord and frame and Joyne press and Cupboard in the Parlor and all other goods there that may be justly or properly be called standards Item as touching my estate in Stanton and Ridmarly in the holding of William Dobbins I doe hereby charge and give out of the same as followeth Imprimis I give to my sonn Christopher three score pounds, to my sonn Florice fifty pounds, to my daughter Anne fifty pounds, to my daughter Elizabeth fifty pounds and also to pay my sister Martha all such money as I doe owe unto her by bond And furthermore if my personall estate mill not amount to the payment of my personall debts my will and meaning is those debts which by some wayes or meanes are not settled by Land security that then in such as I doe hereby give power trust and full authority unto my sonn William my brother in law, Mr Christopher Savage of Elsfield my loveing kinsman William Frankcombe of Tyrley and my brother in law Richard Barston of Redmarley to make sale of the said estate to the best and most advantage as they can or may to the end that all my just and proper debts maybe satisfied and my Creditors not defrauded provided always nevertheless that if my sonn William may or shall be in a capacity of paying the aforesaid legacyes and my debts without making sale thereof or by securing the same that then my will is that my said Brother Savage my cosen Franckomb and Brother Barston do and shall release all their interest to my sonne William and his heires at the charge of my said sonn and as to the payment of the legacyes given to my younger children my will is that it be paid to each of them as they attaine to the age of one and twenty yeares and if it please God that either or any of them dye before they attaine to their respective ages then the portion of the decd to remaine to the survivors And further if my sister Martha be not paid or secured her Debt as her occasions require or the Legacies paid or well secured to my younger children at their respective ages as aforesaid then the said estate to continue and stand charged therewith an is my will that my younger children be taken care and provided for as to their godly education and bringing up in his feare joyntly by my Executors untill they attaine to their respective ages and if either of my Executors dye, then at the charge and care of the survivor and I doe hereby appoint and ordeyne Elizabeth my loveing wife and William  Cooke (my eldest sonn to be joynt Executors of this my will, hoping that in the feare of God they will mutually accord and agree in the due performance thereof and if any difference should happen to arise (which I hope God in mercy towards them will prevent that then it be referred to my loveing and Christian friends trustees and overseers or any two of them to determine and noe other apeale to be made elsewhere, And further more my will is that my sister Mary Dench be taken care for by my Executors or the survivor of them for house roome and other necessarys suitable for her condicon unless shee shall minde goeing to any other place or persons to dwell or inhabit And whereas my kinsman Thomas Cooke some yeares since decd did leave to me the disposition of his household goods to the use of my children as I should think meet and requisite in order thereunto my will is that the said goods be aprized (sith already intermixt with my owne and the overplus of the whole to be devided as equally as may or can amongst my children my wife having two parts of the whole in the devident after my proper debts are discharged and whereas without licence I have ventured to give this trouble to my brother Savage and my cosen Frankcombe and my brother Barston as Trustees and Overseers it is my will that they be satisfied all charges and loss of time occaconed hereby to whom I doe hereby give five shillings apeece to buy them gloves hopeing they will not deny soe charitable an undertaking as need requires And I doe hereby renounce all wills by me heretofore made In witness of the truth hereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and set my seale the day and yeare first above written Florice Cooke Sealed signed and declared to be my last will in the presence of Richard Poston John Sanders Thomas Pillmore

 

Probate granted at London 4 December 1691 to William Cooke, Elizabeth Cooke, Relict of the deceased, the other Executor having died.
